Is that your answer? Because the quiz specifically sez "and only these Mets, have in common". So for you to be correct, every other Met, from Hobie Landrith to Nate Fisher and every other Met in between, was once in your kitchen. You must be serving up some very tasty food. And I'll bet that Gary Carter stole all the credit for cooking that very tasty food.

You are going all in to be anal retentive by quoting a Cheers gag to try and solve this quiz? Did Gary Carter write that Cheers quip? Carter sez he did and if you don't believe him, he'll start to fake cry to manipulate himself into a Mets captainship that was supposed to be all Keith's.

Because my guess would mean if it was warm, statistical category by uni number, or cold, not a thing to do with their Met related uniform number.

I want to say that each leads a uniform number in the 40s in WAR as a Met, but that would be tough, since Cone and Isringhausen, for instance, both wore 44.

He, Dyer and Capra are the only members of the 1973 postseason roster not to appear in a game that postseason.

He's with DiLauro and Koonce with that distinction in 1969.

Some of youse were dancing around the main theme of this quiz -- Mets uniform numbers in the 40s -- all of them -- 40-49. All of the Mets listed above wore a particular Mets uniform number in the 40s for more seasons than any other Met.

For example, Jeff Innis wore #40 for seven seasons (1987-1993). No other Met wore #40 for more seasons than Innis did. Seaver (#41) needs no explanation. There was one tie: Rene Rivera, Jason Isringhausen and David Cone each wore #44 for five seasons.

It's always heard the name came from a pair for former Mets -- Mike Jorgenson and Ken Singleton.

Baseball needs more Gary Carter and Kids and fewer players who think of themselves as savages. Tragic that we won't have Carter at the Old-Timers Game.

Edgy MD
Aug 23 2022 01:29 PM
Re: Quiz Time

The correct answer is indeed Jorgensen.

Carter, by his account, was a teenage rookie kowtowing to the Expo vets when he was invited to watch, but not participate in, a card game among four vets. He eagerly attended, watched, and eventually Jorgensen said, "Hey, Kid, go get us some ice cream."

Singleton was a second member of the group. Which two other future Mets completed the fouresome?
