Angels for sale?

Angels owner Arte Moreno is exploring the possibility of selling his Angels baseball franchise. The Angels are currently valued at somewhere between $2.2B and $2.75B. Moreno purchased the franchise for $183M about 20 years ago. It's easy to make fortunes of money when you already have a fortune. That's why all of the money out there, increasingly, ends up in fewer and fewer hands. I could sell, for $10, a baseball card that I paid 75 cents for a few years ago and make a ten or eleven fold profit just like Moreno might make when he sells the Angels. But I'm only making 10 bucks on my ten or eleven-fold transaction -- not two billion dollars.

Shohei Ohtani is expected to be traded, say the pundits and experts and according to them, the Mets are one of the two or three front-runners to land Ohtani should he be traded. A good friend of mine is convinced that Aaron Judge will be a Met next season. That'd be some haul if the Mets land those two.

That would be impressive. The Mets are going to have a lot of work in front of them this offseason just retaining (or not retaining) their own free agents.

Agreed. Even just bringing back our current squad would be a minor miracle. I can't even imagine the asking price on Ohtani. It might actually be cheaper for Cohen to just buy the Angels.

Yes, the Mets list of potential free agents is pretty lengthy:

DeGrom, Diaz, Bassitt, May, Walker, Nimmo, Givens, Naquin, Ottavino, Lugo, Williams, Vogelbach

Some of these guys will obviously get a higher priority than others, but yeah, a lot of decisions to be made.
