The Better Doctor (split from "One-and-done Mets")

Best line about Medich (who was traded for Dock Ellis): "Ellis is a better DOCTOR than this guy."

It's a stupid line. Ellis's nickname isn't, or wasn't, short for doctor. And Ellis had no medical skills, which Medich did, having attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, hence his nickname, which isn't even baseball related. So not only is the line stupid, but it doesn't even make any sense. Which is why it's stupid.

But I'm sure the seven year olds woulda loved that dumb doctor joke.

I loved it. I'm way older than 7.

I could have sworn that Park had not just one but several bad starts for the Mets, but I may be conflating him with some other washed up pitcher from the other side of the marble

Re: One-and-done Mets

Lest it be unclear, the trade of Doc and Dock occurred between the Yankees and Pirates in the 1975-1976 offseason, and did not involve the Mets.

The Yankees won the deal with Ellis over the short haul, but Medich had the better career going forward.

It's not about the Dock/Doc joke--this idiot seems to think that if he attacks every post I make, he's going to make himself look less idiotic by comparison. I recommend doing what I do, which is to pay him as little attention as possible (attention is his goal here) and keep asking if his posts attacking me could be sent to the Red Light forum where they belong, sparing the rest of us the task of sorting out his personal issues with me from posts about the Mets.

And yes, I should have noted that the Dock/Doc joke was in the immediate aftermath of the trade (which I think was also the one that brought Willie Randolph to the Yankees as a way of evening up the trade of the two Docktors.) Ellis outperformed Medich for a few months, and the disgruntled fan who made the remark was obviously aware of Ellis's lack of medical training--obviously what he was saying was that Ellis was better at everything than Medich was. The whole idea of letting Ellis perform any sort of medical procedure is hilarious.

Yeah, it's pretty clear that the Red Light is where posts about ill will for another poster go.

Usually, we admins hope we don't have to do that.

Great. The pushy blowhard is now calling me an idiot. After threatening to put his boot up my ass many times over whenever he feels like it all because of a 15 year old feud between two other posters that doesn't even involve him. It would've been one thing if you brought up that feud to offer some helpful insight to try and solve the matter. But you didn't. Instead you used the feud as grounds to launch multiple vicious unprovoked attacks against me before I finally responded, and as a so called excuse to, again, put your boot up my ass whenever you feel like it. But I'm the one with personal issues against you. It couldn't possibly be the other way around. This is a reprehensible bs distortion of everything.

Looks like your post should be red-lit for calling me an idiot. I'm allowed to criticize your joke. And I can call it stupid, especially because it is stupid, no matter that they were traded for each other. It's an infantile grade school joke. Just like I can criticize your contrived and desperate for attention post expressing deep deep concern over the identity of the Mets 9th center fielder on the depth chart. But you want the mods to red-light my post? Who's being the idiot?

Look at all of this fallout you're causing because of my fair and legitimate criticism of your stupid joke. What a crybaby. Just like your meltdown when nobody agreed with your dumb infield fly rule idea that the ball should be in play and that the team at bat should likely incur a triple play because it hit a very catchable infield fly. You responded by calling everybody hidebound. And then your insulting, condescending and narcissistic belief that at most, only one person on this entire forum of obsessive Mets fans, other than you of course, could have possibly ever heard of Brian Ostrosser.

I criticize your joke --I didn't attack you -- and you call me an idiot. But my post should be red-lit. Yeah, right.
