Jake and Johan Oviedo (RHP) faced each other in the night game of the day/night doubleheader in PIT. Oviedo didn't fare so good, going 1 2/3 and giving up 4 ER. Jake went 7 shutout innings, striking out 8.

Both of the called third strikes against Canha were right over the inside chalk line of the lefthanded batters box. Not even close to being strikes. In addition there was another called strike in Canha's second at bat that appeared to be 3-4 inches outside.

I've always said that Individual LOB tells a story when that number get too high. Stopped bringing it up, usually shot down by the adoring pitch-framing fans et Al who don't understand the strike zone isn't where the catcher moves his mitt to instead of where it crosses the plate. Robots will fix that.

We made a morning decision to go to the game, buying last-row tix at the park. Got there early to see the Star Spangled Banner guy mess up the lyrics and to see four (four!) ceremonial first pitches. They did the thing where kids set up at positions and Mets replace them for the first inning, Nimmo seemed to want to stay talking with the center field kid. Anyway, beautiful weather and delightful game.
