Game 1 has begun. Bieber v. McClanahan.

Our old friend Amed Rosario has the first hit of the game.

Giménez had quite the season, didn't he? Where did all that pop come from?

The Guardians win 2-1 in a brisk 2:17!

and they must have thought that he was Jose Reyes, as the Indian fans kept chanting "Jose...Jose...Jose" as he rounded the bases and scored on a 2 run homer

The Rays actually challenged the home run call, saying Amed missed second base as the ball Ramirez hit was leaving the park. Amed nicked second, though, and the Rays lost the challenge and the game.

Re: IWCST - Tampa Bay vs. Cleveland

I keep hearing/reading all this debate about whether Judge or Ohtanti for MVP but is either one really an MVP? The way that I interpret Most Valuable Player is: If this guy wasn't there, would they still be a playoff team? The Angels suck, so how is Ohtani an MVP? And while Judge pretty much had the best season of anyone, would the Yanks still win the AL East without him? Likely yes...Would the Astros machine still win minus any specific player? Most likely yes...

However, if you take Jose Ramirez away from the Indians/Guardians, would they win the AL Central? I severely doubt it...so how is he not being mentioned as the clear favorite in the AL MVP?

Some people interpret MVP that way, but most interpret it mean "the best player in the league," which is why Ohtani and Judge are the top contenders. Als why Ohtani and Harper won last year even though neither of their teams made the postseason.

Is Ohtani the HR hitting pitcher?

I'm on the ‘if your team didn't make it you weren't that valuable' wagon too.

I vote for Ramirez

Two other views of that tend to agree with you.

The Canadian Football League calls their award the "Most Important Player".

In baseball, the Sporting News (when it really was the "Bible of Baseball") used to award a "Player of he Year" for the player with the most dominant year (this year maybe Judge or Ohtani) to distinguish it from a "Most Valuable" player.(In your scenario Ramirez)

cool...I think that there should be a distinction between "best" player and "most valuable" player...for example, When Andre Dawson won the MVP for a last place Cubs, it should have been best, not MVP...

0-0 in the 14th, a postseason first.

Please, please let this not be a pretext to perpetuate the magic runner rule.

AL East teams have gone 0-4 in the postseason thus far. How sweet would it be if they went 0-7?
