I wouldn't be opposed to it, but I don't expect it to happen. But there's probably going to be a lot of roster churn this winter, with all of the pending free agents, so I guess anything can happen. I wouldn't have expected Scherzer either.

The Mets are poised to enter the playoffs in pursuit of a title. I view Judge the way I do all non-Met players — as just another highly suspicious figure trying to impose himself between my team and their destiny. He doesn't care about immediately solving my problems. If he did, he'd be over here doing yardwork or some light plumbing for me.

I thought he was using Barry Bonds to put down Aaron Judge. Which was siding with you, in a roundabout you. I thought he was saying that Bonds is the real record holder. I'm not sure why you'd complain about that, given that you seem to have an issue with what Aaron Judge did this season. Which I can barely figure out what your issue actually is other than blah blah Kay and something something Maris.

You don't get it. He used Bonds to make a point about Judge. So your comment about what is or isn't appropriate in a given thread is off the mark here. Besides the fact that anything goes in any thread because that's how real life conversations free-flow anyways.

People break 61 year old lesser records all the time. Pete Alonso literally broke the same caliber of record 3 years ago. Did he get back pages and cut-ins? Michael Kay (And Sterling) are their announcers. that's what they want. Garbage franchise gets it's garbage sound byte. I don't think I've ever even heard the Maris HR call? I think I watched the 61* movie though, was it in that?

But when I think, what I think is that it's a ridiculously bad situation that this staggeringly successful franchise has not only employed such poor broadcasters, but they've allowed them to stick around and become insinuated into the Yankee brand, so everybody has to pretend these guys are real assets to the brand when they aren't, and generations don't realize that they're playing out "The Emporer's New Clothes" on a nightly basis, and things don't have to stink this much. Making a change would be the organization admitting that they've been feeding folks garbage all these years. So instead, they keep feeding it, thinking maybe they can try to council these guys into retirement some day, but knowing that if they even try, some columnist would get wind of it and whip up a woefully misinformed fan rebellion. The same thing happened with Rizzuto for two-plus generations. Folks were convinced they were lucky to have him when they in fact deserved far better.

Aaron also wasn't chasing down his specific league record, of whomever he took over it from at the time, and wasn't winding down his already announced final season (emphasizing a finite amount of chances) despite Ruth's all-time mark some 10 homers away (again, emphasis is on not being able to obtain the all-time record that was in play)!
