Mets manager Buck Showalter said on Tuesday that Starling Marte (finger) is improving "little by little."
Showalter added that Marte isn't at the point where he can play in a game. The 33-year-old veteran outfielder was unable to grip a bat with both hands on Monday and it's unclear whether he'll be ready in time for the start of the National League Wild Card Series on Friday. It sounds like he'll be ready to return at some point this month, but his status for the start of the postseason remains up in the air.
