I wonder if the analytics team has figured we are hitting too many to the warning track there and not enough over the fence.

But from the picture, it looks like it will reduce the home run dimension and cause an uneven configuration with a corner, nooks and crannies, like the bullpen in Fenway (right field) and the Kiner's Corner (Left field) in Forbes Field. Just saw a post quoting Cohen saying there will be a "speakeasy club" in the new area, with a living room-style space with personal televisions, a private bar and an elevated dining experience among other things.

When I first read the MLB rules, perhaps in 1982, one of the first rules was specifically forbidding teams from arbitrarily changing their ballpark configuration from year to year.

I wonder what MLB meant by "arbitrarily"? Like some movable fence that was moved 30 feet closer to home plate when the home team batted but was moved 40 feet farther away from home plate when the visitors batted? And even that doesn't sound so arbitrary. Sounds very methodical to me.

The rule stated that dimensions established on or before X date (which was many years past at that point) could not be changed without acquiring some sort of waiver from the league. The idea appeared to be to discourage tailoring a ballpark for the new slugger you acquired. Maybe it came after the Yankees closed in Death Valley after(?) they got Dave Winfield. The other rules I remember from the early part of the book involved dressing the pitcher. The pitcher's glove had to be uniform in color and could not be gray and could not be white. I'm pretty sure pitchers routinely wear multi-colored gloves and possibly gray gloves now. Probably not white. The pitcher also could not wear a white or gray sleeve that extended beyond the elbow (either elbow?). I'm relatively certain that rule is still in effect.
