There goes the big name catcher to a division rival. Five years.

Does this signify the end for Yaddie F'n Molina?

I didn't see if he announced his retirement.

They haven't been a division rival for 30 years.

their pitching staff/defense is in for a rude awakening going from Yadier Molina to Contreras

He went to a division rival of the Cubs, his former team.

Good thing the Cubs got everything they could for him in that big deadline deal.

right? its not like he got 200 mil either - you have to think this contract is right around what you'd expect him to get, so if you weren't going to pay that, why wasnt he gone at the deadline?

If the Cubs need a catcher now, I know one they can have! Heck, one whom we know has already thrived in that city!

Maybe they will give us Pete Crow-Armstrong back for him too. Kyle Hendricks might be more realistic and interesting, if you think the shoulder issue was the reason his form went south and we'd only have to wager McCann that he's recovered.

I was wondering if the Cardinals would take McCann for Steven Matz, but I guess that's a no.
