Jorge Julio

First National League win tonight.

There were many heroes tonight, and he may well not be the greatest of them. (I'll let a frosty cold beverage that's good for more than one decide that.) But he's the one I'm happiest for.

I was as horrified as the next guy (maybe mor) at Julio's poor start. But anyone who watched Roberto Hernandez' Lazerus trick at age 39 has to give the benefit of the doubt to Julio, who's only 27.

He obviously has dynamite stuff. He's only 27!

C'mon, the Roberto Hernandez stuff isn't fair. Julio has electric stuff. He's 3rd on the Mets in strikeouts, behind only Glavine and Pedro!

This was big tonight. Continued good outings in increasingly more important situations will be key. If we can trust him in close games -- damn. Julio, Heilman, Duaner, Sandman -- that's riddiculous.

I'm happy for him, have to give the coaching staff credit for the way they have used him after the bad start, and as is pointed out, he's only 27.

I'd be careful with statements like that, we do have a civil commitment law you know.

Does it apply to sig lines?

Wasn't "Release Julio NOW!!!! your sig line?

I'm not sure, but I think he might be our closer today. Sanchez got through his two innings in just 20 pitches, so he may be the best option also, but he''s gone three straight days --- 19-13-20 pitches --- and four in five.

It's Julio or Pedro Feliciano, who's fresh as a daisy after only five pitches and three days off before that.

It's all good. Zambrano's pitching a no-hitter today, remember?

But seriously, I'm guessing Willie would use Oliver for two innings, Feliciano for one, and Heilman for one as closer (19 pitches last night, night off on Thursday). We might see Bradford again as well (17 pitches last night, night off on Thursday).

I honestly don't think our pen is in such bad shape--we just have to avoid Billy, Sanchez & Julio.

I guess once again, we've proved how inept Willie and Peterson are. After all, they wanted to get rid of Julio, and we all argued them into sticking with him. Right?

of all the times to have anyone in the bullpen "unavalable" a zambrano start is the worst...we'll see what happens, i'd have to assume Heilman is the "closer" today if Wagner can't go.

We did save Oliver. Feliciano only threw 5 pitches, too. Oliver's probably good for 3 innings if necessary.

Now it gets tricky. Need multiple innings out of Oliver badly, maybe Heilman and Feliciano also.

Which so beats the hell out of being called Mr. Foreskin that it's not even worth discussing.

Willie is willing to hang himself with Julio's underwear here.

Crudup.

Julio and Matsui both got handcuffed by that.
