Nice article today in the Times today about Pedro Martinez at home. I had read about his affinity for gardening in the past, but this is the most revealing article about Pedro's life away from the field that I've seen.

Nice article.

6 bedrooms, 8 acres in Greenwich. I knew I shoulda been a pitcher.

I was surprised that he only paid $4 mil for it. 8 acres in Greenwich? That's a freakinn' steal at that price.

And P.S. My yard looks better than his....gardener my ass.

Listened to a MFY Fan named Curtis Sliwa trash Pedro for this this morning on WABC radio, 77AM here in New York City.

Course he hates Pedro since the Red Sox days, and hates the Mets since childhood, and I'm not sure a guy that dresses like this should be making comments about people's toughness:

I imagine Sliwa has kicked many an ass.

Is he a Guardian Angel? They were pretty tough back in the day.

OE: Yes, he actually founded the Guardian Angels. I wouldn't mess with him. Even if you could take him on he's got backup.

Maybe he paid cash.

Oh he has, I'm referring to outward apperances, which he is ripping Pedro's gardening for.

Which is odd coming from a fellow who looks like he hasn't realized that the 80's ended 17 years ago!

Mr. Sliwa has surrived couple of Gangland attacks by the way

A Guardian Angel? He IS The Guardian Angel! Founder of the organization

He's also since admitted that more than a few of the early stories of Guardian Angel exploits were exaggerrated or just plain made up.

I ran into him coming out of my accountant's office last week. Not a big guy at all.

Pedro or Sliwa?

Personally whenever I would run into a pack of those Guardian Angels they made me feel less safe. Always seemed like they were made up of a bunch of hoods who were in the organization in order to get to beat people up.

Which probably hurt his cred during the first Gotti Jr. trial, and is probably why Gotti Jr. is a free man right now

The late, great Ray Traylor once wrestled as The Guardian Angel between stints as the Big Boss Man.

Heh, no relation!

No clue if Sliwa even knows about what WCW was back in those days (or even if he knows anything from the current pro-wrestling scene)

Would have been funny as hell if he did and tried to sue WCW! Around the same time they had a masked wrestler in a yellow and blue suit with some VERY familiar markings, named "Aranchid-Man"

Yet another example of how Pedro is cute as a bunny rabbit
