Pedro gave up 3 runs in the second inning before settling in and shutting down the Phillies lineup. Unfortunately, the Mets offense wasn't having much success against Phillies pitcher Brett Myers. In the eighth inning, with the Mets still trailing by a 3-0 score, Xavier Nady hit a two run home run that seemed to ignite the Mets. In the ninth inning, Carlos Delgado touched Phillies closer Tom Gordon for a two run home run that tied the game at four runs apiece. However, it wasn't meant to be tonight as Aaron Heilman threw away the game and the Mets victory with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Staging a wonderful comeback, only to lose the game in the bottom of the ninth inning makes this loss all the more disappointing. Much like tonight's beer sponsor, Keystone Light, this loss is pretty tough to swallow.
