Made me appreciate Pete Alonso. He had a similar stance and — if you squinted — kind of a similar swing, but very different results. Often seemed kinda banged up, but that couldn't account for what he swung at, which was often sliders low and away. Caught the second-ever Mets no-hitter. I'm concerned that the Mets brass isn't getting enough sleep.

Stepped in to play first base on one of those injury-strapped nights in 2021. Made a nice play and homered despite the position being new to him. Ended a game at Coors Field by throwing out Trevor Story, a Met rarity. Was the Mets' Clemente Award nominee this year, recognizing on- and off-field contributions, which implies he must have been a Hall of Famer off the field given what we saw on the field (no-hitter handling notwithstanding).

Never got healthy or comfortable here. I thought he'd be a serviceable bridge to Alvarez and an easy player to move when the time came. Oh well. I'm not convinced Narvaez is an upgrade though.

Always showed his socks over meaty calves. Ridiculously open stance he never seemed to adjust despite it not going well for him.

For a catcher that couldn't hit; he could sure hit when he didn't catch: (Small sample size) but in his 2 seasons as a Met, he had 42 At Bats combined at 1B/DH/PH... In those 42 at bats, he had 15 hits with 3 doubles, 4 HRs, 12 RBI...for a .357 batting average

Jesse Orosco was a PTBNL in the trade that sent Jerry Koosman to the Twins. I have a feeling that for this trade, the player isn't ever going to be named. Unless the Mets find they need a backup third baseman for St. Lucie or something, and then the Orioles will throw them a warm body.
