The Big Game

Who's going to win the [CROSSOUT]Super Bowl[/CROSSOUT] Big Game? (We can't say it because we're not paying some fat cat in the NFL office).

Who do you hope will win it?

Who will win it?

What will be the score?

Do you watch the half time show?

Do you watch the commercials?

Re: The Big Game

I'm a fan of the old American Football League (and the Jets), so I'll root for the ex-AFL team, KC.

Also, my wife roots for Philly, which really makes me root hard for KC.

If KC can protect the quarterback from Philly's fierce pass rush, KC will win.

If they can't, it will be the "Iggles".

We'll know early on in the game.

Either way, the score will be 31-27

I sometimes watch the halftime entertainment, but will be passing on it this year. (I won't watch the pregame hijinks, either)

I like the commercials. One of my favorite actresses (Danielle Ruah) does the annual "Best Superbowl commercials" show with Boomer Esiason, and I watch that, too.

Do you watch the half time show? - Not since Prince set the high bar

Do you watch the commercials? - Monday, on the news

I'll root for a great game/finish, I don't really care who wins.

I'll be making ribs , fries , wings , GF will make brownies and corn dogs ( I've never had them 😁)

Lorcan is excited because at his school they agreed a few years back that if the school reached fundraising goals for Christmas they would get the day after the SB off ( this is the day the students wanted)

Re: The Big Game

Who do you hope will win it? - Kansas City. I find Philadelphia fans to be obnoxious no matter the sport. The only two hashtags I've ever muted on Twitter have been in the last 6 months: #RingTheBell and #FlyEaglesFly

Who will win it? - Kansas City. These are the two most talented teams from 2022 playing each other, so anything could happen, but Reid and Mahomes have been playing at this level for years. Hurts and Sirianni have not. I give the edge to experience.

What will be the score? - 34-26

Do you watch the half time show? - It will be on and I may or may not be paying attention. Agreed with KC, they should just replay the Prince show every year for halftime.

Do you watch the commercials? - Unless I'm urinating or replenishing snacks.

Re: The Big Game

Watching? Yes, at least casually

Rooting? Not really. Feels like I'm leaning towards KCC but for no particular reason (slight NYM connection maybe?)

Commercials? Not going to actively avoid them, but it seems like I haven't seen a good one in years. The makers of such seem far too impressed with themselves or the celebs they can land that they forget to be, y'know, good.

No pre-game [TV golf and/or music instead], no half-time, no post-game (even on the assumption that I'm still awake), no endless (over-) analysis.

Not gonna watch. Hope the Eagles lose. The mania around here is hard to tolerate.

Re: The Big Game

I will not watch any of the hours of pregame analysis and conjecture. I will watch the game as long as it is competitive. Not a fan of either team, but hope the Chiefs win.

I will watch the commercials (as long as I am still watching the game), but they quit being a big attraction (or memorable) over a decade ago.

I don't even know who the halftime performer is this year. Generally, it is an over-hyped, over-produced performance that fails to entertain. At least IMHO.

Re: The Big Game

I'll be rooting for KC primarily based on Patrick Mahomes' Metly heritage.

We were supposed to go watch with my sister & brother in law but he got Covid this past week, so that fell through. So we'll be at home with my mother in law visiting, and I'll make homemade potato skins and weenies-in-blankets for everyone to eat. Got a few real beers and a bunch of N/A's for keeping myself on point.

Who do you hope will win it? I have absolutely no rooting interest.

Who will win it? Chiefs, but maybe the Eagles.

What will be the score? 31-14

Do you watch the half time show? Never. That's for halftime pizza and bathroom breaks.

Do you watch the commercials? Always. They're often the best part of the night, although they've been pretty lame the last few years.

Re: The Big Game

Who do you hope will win it? Nobody. I hope both teams lose. Is that even possible?

Who will win it? I hope that all six quarterbacks that suit up for this game are all knocked out with concussions and fractured ankles by the end of the first quarter. And that the rest of the game is quarterbacked by severely injured backups that can't throw the ball more than two yards downfield. With nine defenders "in the box" on each play, the game remains scoreless interminably through 11 overtime periods. Nary a first down.

What will be the score? 0-0

Do you watch the half time show? Only if the Up with People performers are gonna do the halftime show. And I hope Up with People does a Burt Bacharach medley for this game. How apropos. And wholesome.

Do you watch the commercials? Always. I hope they're good.

Any chance that the Chinese spy balloon was President Xi's attempt to snoop in on SB LVII practices trying to get a better idea on which side to lay his money?

Flipping channels and stopped on the FOX pregame , it's every bit as awful as one would expect, Arod and Jeter were on the segment I saw , apparently he's joining FOX baseball crew , Arod slobbering all over Jeter

Fox pregame is predictably over-the-top patriotic, befitting the network owned by an Australian.

It's just a football game, guys, not World War II.

Re: The Big Game

Are they pointing up to the sky yet? That's also patriotic. This is not a secular nation, like it oughtta be. So point to the sky, like a true patriot. And may the best sky pointer win. Why bother even playing the game when you can just point to the sky and thank some invisible imaginary made up person for giving you a touchdown?

Let's have a contest. How long before someone points up to the sky? Even though someone probably did it already. Someone probably sky pointed after tying their shoelaces together.

As an aside I really like Greg Olsen who I suppose will be demoted once Brady comes to the booth, Greg and our Kevin are a really good team

Another absurd replay reversal to 'correct' a call which NO ONE would have even complained about once upon a time.

The Replay review system isn't correcting wrongs, lt's creating them.

There hasn't been a commercial so far that I'd describe as even mildly amusing.

First good ad I saw today.

Also, Rihanna's half time show was just the dullest thing ever. My wife & daughter enjoyed it but she was just another fat lady singing on TV. I'd take a Prince re-run over that every February.

Here's a question: Is Patrick Mahomes the only Super Bowl-winning player with a Metly father? The only other NFL player I can think of with such blessed lineage is Tim Berra.

I was all over the commercials for the last 3 weeks at work. I liked

--Dunkin (low key funny not overdone)

--Bud Light (romantic)

--The coors Miller lite bar fight (clever and unusual for a beer portfolio company to intermingle brands)

--Paul Stanley disappearing behind the boardroom door

DraftKings and such had action on Riotous Celebration or Riotous Calamity.

Haven't watched any news yet this morning to see if Philly is still standing.
