TWiB Notes -- April 17 thru 23

It's Patriots Day/Marathon Monday in Boston which of course means morning baseball at Fenway.

Rain had other ideas however and after several interruptions they're only in the 7th inning some five hours after scheduled first pitch.

Ohtani started but went only two on account of the rain. Still hitting though on account of the rule made specifically for him where he

simply morphed into a DH. He's 2/4 with a run scored.

5-3 Angels in bottom 7

5-3 Angels is your (finally) final so LAA avoids the sweep by taking the final game of the four game series.

Other series starting tonight:

- Braves are in SD so their game times will roughly correspond to ours both the next two nights and with day games on Wednesday.

The 8-6 Padres are owners of three of Atlanta's four losses this year after sweeping the Braves in their home opening series.

- Philly visits the south side of Chicago and the 6-10 ChiSox

- Marlins host the Giants so we'll likely get to SF for that series before the home team does

- and the Nats are ... don't know, don't care

- Yanx await the Angels starting tomorrow where they'll miss the pitching half of Ohtani

deGrom doesn't give up a single run tonight -- or even a hit, but wont get the Win as he's pulled after four innings with his first place Rangers up 4-0 over the Royals.

To be updated.

Re: TWiB Notes -- April 17 thru 23

Giancarlo Stanton is going to miss time because he hit a long fly that he admired from the box as a would be HR, only to see it doink off the wall, and then tried to leg out a 2B that he should have been running hard the entire time, and hurt his hamstring.

Lesson #391 from the "sucks to suck" playbook

Doesn't help that Stanton can pull a hammy playing chess.

Braves getting shut out thru 7 in SD (I've gotten so used to them leading 2-0 in the 1st that I didn't think it was possible).

But the Pads have just a slim 1-0 lead after losing the first two by a combined 12-1

Still 1-0 Padres, 2 out, top 9, runner on 1st, Albies vs Hader, 2-2 count ... and he pops out to end the Braves' 8-game winning streak.

He was Drew Not-So-Smyly after that.

That hit for the Dodgers was leading off the 8th.

It would be their only one.

The Cubs pen got the final four outs in the 13-0 drubbing.

Braves host the Astros this weekend while the Yanx get Toronto, so both of those are worthy of monitoring.

Phils continue with Colorado after the Rox won 5-0 last night.

oe: and if you want to watch Either the Yanx or Braves games tonight you'll need to pay up because BOTH are on Apple+ streaming exclusively.

Braves swept at home by Houston.

Red Sox score 9 runs in the 8th inning at Milwaukee. Yoshida had two home runs in the inning including a granny.

The Rays have been mostly good for a while, now, so I should be used to it, but 13-0 at home is something.

I have trouble associating Tropicana Field with "home field advantage."
