Mets @ SFG, 7:10 PM, ESPN (UGH). Tylor Megill (RHP) v. Ross Stripling (RHP). https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-giants/2023/04/23/718455/preview This is the 10th game of the Mets' 10-game trip to the West Coast... and the Mets can't check out any time they like because ESPN claimed the game so the Mets have to stay for another 3 hours. After yesterday's bomb, it would be nice to end the trip with a win and go 8 and 2.

I imagine someone gets suddenly hurt so they can bring back Butto. Dominic Hamel also seems to me a dark horse worth a look. The John Curtiss demotion didn't seem to be a very intuitive move, and I'm curious if they may be stretching him out to reintroduce him as a starter.

When he was optioned, I read that they optioned Curtiss to work on the changeup he recently learned. They think it could develop into a very effective out pitch but needs more refinement. Later

Great news The Mets are down 4 of their 5 projected starters and the next up troops have done terrific Verlander throwing a bullpen today. He hasn't thrown an inning and he is on my last nerve TYLORD

I think this info is a few years old. It's now Karl Ravech/Eduardo Perez/David Cone on ESPN games.

It's cool to face twins consecutively in the same game. Taylor and Tyler are not only twins, and not even merely identical Twins. They belong to the extra-rare category of mirror-image identical twins. Plus, beyond the novelty, we came out on top, with Álvarez homering off the really good one. The only thing that would have made it cooler was if it happened while we were playing The Twins.

Yeah this one is pretty hard to complain about. A normal west coast afternoon start of 4 eastern is about the WORST start time for me, a near guarantee I'll be dealing with children bed/bath/dinner most of the game

It's hard to win when your SP can't give you even 5 innings w/o giving up 4+ runs but we're going to have Peterson and Megill (+ Senga who is having trouble getting out of the 5th inning) for at least another week. (The comment about the ESPN start time was actually from Buck to Buster in the annoying in-game interview.)

Shoulda coulda swept the A's. Prolly shoulda took 3 of 4 in San Fran. Good road trip, the Mets don't normally have good west coast swings so whatever. They had one. It's April, and virtually tied for first. I don't usually like off days but I welcome one tomorrow.
