Scherzer is scheduled to pitch on Monday, the 11th game after his 10-game suspension, but if there is a rainout today, tomorrow, or Sunday, he can't pitch on Monday.

It was a good play by Baty. You have to make the runner commit. Rosario was freezing as if to turn around. The problem is that Peterson burned himself out on the at-bat with Harris and he hung everything after that. It would have been a good time for a pitching change after the play at the plate. Hindsight, of course. But Peterson is good.

I'm not real confident about the Mets scoring 4 runs in this series much less in the next three innings tonight ... assuming there will even be more innings tonight.

I'm not sure what that would have availed them in Game One of a weekend series. Wouldn't Saturday or Sunday just end up getting turned into Fried-day when the game was made up with a doubleheader?

Right! They had an excuse and maybe they could have stalled until the Braves were back in August when possibly more pitchers were healthy but I wonder if they just want to get Max's 10-game suspension over with.

I don't know, I think I'd rather they feel they can beat anyone at any time in rain or snow or sleet or hail so Let's Play Ball! Yankees shmankees. Meanwhile, depending on who you listen to there may be a late afternoon/early evening window to get one it later.

No. Home team has discretion to cancel a game prior to its start (then control moves to the umps or, in the case of post-season, to MLB). But make-ups are mutually agreed upon by the two teams with some sort of language from above encouraging earliest possible time.



iow, there would have been a DH at least attempted this weekend in all likelihood. And, who knows, one or more of the next three might get bumped to August anyway (or some mutual off-day) so pre-canceling last night would have just made things worse.



And if it had been our 1Bman hitting the 3R Jack just before the skies opened up instead of theirs then none of us would even be discussing the topic.

So for the 3 games (as of now) against the Braves: Peterson, Megill, and Butto. For the 3 games against the Tigers: Scherzer, Senga, Verlander.
