IGT 5/5/2023: COL@NYM -- Harvey Retirement Day

Ten years removed from his perfect game flirtation and five years removed from his designation for assignment, Matt Harvey has announced his retirement. Because time marches on, the Mets will play a baseball game anyway. Senga for us. Senzatela for the Rockies. Both sound like pharmaceuticals advertised on channels that show very old reruns. Hopefully this will not be a rerun of the Tiger series. 7:10 at Citi Field.

I'm going to ask my doctor if Senzatela is right for me. Side effects, although rare, can include belching, rashes, enlargement of ears, green urine, and spontaneous combustion.

Game won on a Mike Baxter hit Senga is not used for Type 1 Diabetes. Senga may also help you lose a few pounds

The thing is, that's around where a 1-0, 8-1/2 inning game should wind up. We've just spent the last couple decades being groomed to seeing even those as the handful that might barely break 2:40 or so.

So many guys were on base the last few innings, even if the game had moved along at good clip up until that point, I would imagine the pitchers slowing the heck out of it under prior rules.

Yeah, even when games were moving along at a decent clip in recent years the breaks would often get slammed on when the 7th inning rolled around.
