Tuesday Night Mets Club taking this one in from section 513. Looks like we're in for a bullpen game from the AL East leaders. Jalen Beeks starting v. Verlander

Rays likely to be missing their leading slugger Yandy Diaz with groin tightness. Starter is a lefty but righty Yonny Chririnos also expected to throw. Predicting Vogey will start as DH

Rays are 1st in MLB in runs, Home runs, batting average, OBP, SLG, OPS --every one of their starters has multiple home runs, with Yandy Diaz and Randy Arozarena leading with 10 each. As I mentioned it's likely Diaz sits out this game at least. He usually bats first so their lineup will be different. Wander Franco (ss), Brandon Lowe (2B), Tayor Walls (3B) and Diaz make up the infield. They are all good. Arozarena, Josh Lowe and Jose Siri are the outfielders. Josh Lowe and Brandon Lowe are not related, I don't think. They also have 2 Kelleys in the bullpen (Trevor Kelley, Kevin Kelly). Rays pitchers are second in ERA and fewest Home runs allowed in MLB

So not only 31 - 11 but with a Pythag figure that suggests they should be 32 - 10 I suspect that a team in that stratosphere rarely has a Pythag record above their actual one. Their first four losses of the year were by 3, 3, 7, 5 runs Since then their defeats have come by: 1, 3 (but in extra innings so tied after reg), 1, 2, 1, 1, and 1 run(s)

I looked it up on baseball-reference.com - in his career Keef went 0 for 9 with 2 BBs against John Franco.

You couldn't get a better or clearer shot than the replay officials had to overturn that call. It was down to the officials' interpretation of the rule.

We had an Interweb outage so I didn't get to see the end. Pretty nettlesome to think that, ultimately the difference turned out to be Verlander's performeance.

Another miserable night in the park with the Mets uncompetitive. We participated in the booing of Verlander, it didn't feel good, but that's part of the process. There was an odd guy sitting in our row when we arrived. Older guy, white hair, big belly, skinny legs. As soon as we arrived he was like "Is this your seat?" and I was like this is our row, and he went to move a row down, though he could have remained in the seat he occupied (as it turned out). Anyway he's got a shopping stuff full of stuff, snacks and cookies, a hairbrush, and clothing and whatnot, and as he moves to the next row down, some of the contents pour out of the bag and he reaches over to gather them and somehow falls down, hits his head on the something and opens up a cut alongside his eye & blood is dripping out. I helped him up, gave him a bunch of napkins to stem the bleeding and went looking for an usher for real help but they don't exist on the Promenade level. Turns out he was alright, spent the game talking to no one, and to us occasionally, about how they need to call up the kids immediately and damning Verlander for surrendering a home run on a 3-2 pitch. He left in the top of the ninth without saying goodbye. Weird guys you meet at Mets games.
