Do not care for Vogelbach in there tonight I understand there is a logjam of players at the moment but they did not bring up Vientos to sit as often as he is

I think Gary's reasoning during the game last night makes some sense, play these guys now with a extended look to see who wins out when they call up thr AAA kid

Vogelbach's a legend. He's drawing a ton of walks. He's not the problem with the Mets.

Vogelbach is frustrating. He's not hitting for power and he gets caught window shopping for third strikes too often (like a younger Nimmo) including twice last night. On the other hand, even with the two K's on Thursday, he still got on base in his other two PAs (walk and a single) and that pace, along with his season long 37.2% on-base rate, has value in it. It also puts him right up there with Nimmo & McNeal [.373, .372, .370] for tops on the team, a full 29 points ahead of Pete and a full 50 to 70 ticks above every other player on the squad*. Don't be too quick to dismiss such stuff. * not including Michael Perez and Omar Narvaez and their combined 21 ABs

Im guessing Max will be limited to 80-90 pitches tonight. That may become a trend for him

Last year I believe the average number of pitches for an MLB starter was

83-85 pitches. I imagine that hasn't changed much in 2023. Not sure what

you mean by 'limited.' The trick of course is to avoid the 30 pitch innings but

that's a discussion for another time...

Well that was a disappointing half inning. 3 Ks sandwiched around a BB, HBP, and E, and all three Ks were ahead in the count.

It looked like they were trying to get him through seven, and now Hefner is taking a totally meaningless trip to the mound, which suggests they're pulling him and want to get the bullpen ready. And there's a base hit. He's gonna be huffy with Heffy.

In two games, he's jumped from 11th to seventh in career Mets triples, passing Kranepool, Flynn, and Wright, and catching Lance Johnson. It's funny, because with triples, there's everybody, and then there's Mookie Wilson in a class by himself. And José Reyes is two classes above that.

Well, that was a little sweatier than it mighta shoulda been. I don't know if Moustakas has had a terrific career against the Mets, but it's always seemed that way to me. Game gained on the Braves.
