MLB's strict pitch clock enforcement is 'frustrating' Max Scherzer

Re: Max Mad

If there isn't somebody (Nido?) available to warm him up while Álvarez gets his gear on, his issue mebbe should be with his own team.

I agree that umpires should have more discretion, but they didn't fumble the ball there.

Re: Max Mad

I would think this would be for Max and the coaching staff to nail down

It's problematic to grant more discretion to the umps. You could end up straying too far away from what the clock was intended to do which as of now seems to be working quite well as a whole

Changes can be made to the clock, in the office season

Sure, he could throw to anyone. Couldn't pass up starting a Mad/Max thread

on an otherwise kinda slow baseball night. .

I remember when somebody would run out to warm up the pitcher while the catcher put his gear on. Didn't have to be a catcher, sometimes it was the utility infielder. And it happened quite regularly. I haven't noticed whether teams do that these days.

Right, I meant to add this yesterday but didn't get around to it. Catcher

stranded at second on the third out had to go in and pad up and someone

would come out like as you said a bench player or even maybe a coach. Seems

non-existent these days but it could just be I haven't noticed that it still occurs.

Hell, pull some guy out of the stands and give him a mitt! (and maybe even a mask too)
