My John Sullivan memory is buying a minty condition copy of his 1967 Topps Mets card on lower Broadway from a sidewalk vendor for one dollar about 30 years ago. That card is a "high number" and worth hundreds of dollars today depending on its condition. I guess the seller didn't know. It was probably worth about five or maybe 10 bucks when I bought it.

Sullivan was a one-year Met and caught, among others, the rookie Tom Seaver. Was made expendable next season when the Mets promoted Duffy Dyer and got J.C. Martin in the Tommie Agee trade.

Whatever, I'm one of the chosen few who is kept in the dark on such things.

He was the 40th oldest living Met. With his death, and the subsequent passing of Roger Craig, Ron Hunt and John Stephenson have moved into the Top Forty.
