Putting aside the Hebrew-scripture-vs.-Christian-scripture overtones and the ex-Yankee-vs.-ex-Met undertones, if you were a Mets exec looking for a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency firstbaseman to add to the depth chart, in case Alonso is slow to heal and his replacements flounder, did your team choose the right guy? For the sake of the inquiry, we'll work from the assumption that this was an actual choice before them.

Murphy, partly for sentiment but the Mets could also use a bit more from the left side of the plate.
