MLB Pass-Ports

Per Edgy's request...

I don't know if anyone else in the Pool does this, but I've had a lot of fun with MLB Pass-Ports. (Yes, I know passport is typically one word. The hyphen is in the brand name.)

Each stadium in the MLB and affiliated MILB has a stamp that looks like a postmark, with the date changing in the middle. With the books, when you go to a game, you stamp the page and fill out information about the game. It's a fun way to keep track of the games you've been to and the stadiums you visit.

A whole community as built up around this, and it's nice to encounter people with the books and talk about stadiums. The Mets, by the way, are one of just two teams with a special 42 stamp.

Re: MLB Pass-Ports

This sounds really neat. We have the same thing with State Parks in PA (probably all states do) and it's fun getting the stamps. We live near a bunch of them and have quite a few.

I bought one for my niece In Philadelphia for the ones down there.

Question: if they rename the stadium do they get a different stamp? 😁

Re: MLB Pass-Ports

I recently did a count, and I've seen regulation major league games in 18 different stadiums, and eight of them are still "active", if that's the correct term.

Defunct or inactive:

Shea Stadium, Olympic Stadium, Yankee Stadium II, Memorial Stadium, Fulton County Stadium, Riverfront Stadium, Veterans Stadium, Hiram Bithorn Stadium, Comiskey Park, Tiger Stadium.

Active:

Citi Field, Fenway Park, Camden Yards, Nationals Park, PNC Park, Citizens Bank Park, Safeco Field, Wrigley Field.

I've seen minor league games in Brooklyn, Norfolk, Reading, Oneonta, Durham, Knoxville (two different stadiums), and wherever the Carolina Mudcats played. Plus spring training games in St. Lucie and other sites in Florida and Arizona.

I once had the goal of seeing games in every major league park, but I lost interest as many of the parks I had already been to started going away, and my desire to see baseball games that didn't involve the Mets dropped to about zero.

That's cool! I need to make a West Coast trip to get some of those!

Active: Citi Field, Fenway, Comerica Park, loanDepot Park, Great American Ballpark, Citizen's Bank, PNC Park, Nationals Park, Wrigley, Guaranteed Rate, Busch Stadium, American Family, Progressive Field, Rogers Centre, Target Field, Coors Field. I've had the Minute Maid tour but did not get to a game. I got a hard hat tour of Camden Yards when it was nearing completion.

Defunct: Shea, Yankee Stadium, Milwaukee County, Cleveland Stadium, Comiskey Park, Joe Robbie, Veterans Stadium, Riverfront Stadium, Busch Stadium II, Memorial Stadium, Tiger Stadium. I had a tour of the Metrodome, and snuck into the Astrodome.

Re: MLB Pass-Ports

A friend of mine has that, and for the WBC game in Phoenix, he drug us all around the park trying to find the person doing the stamping. He was pretty geeked on it.

I love that the pouch has a holder for "ticket stubs". RIP physical tickets.

It is never too late -- and gives you an excuse to go back to some parks!

There is one book with stadium-specific pages, and you stamp it once for each place. That's aimed at the people who want to see all 30 -- and he updates it with insert-able pages as new stadiums are built. The other has pages without the stadium histories and such that can be used for any park. So each time I go to Comerica or Guaranteed Rate, I use that same book each time until I fill lit up. I'm on my second minor-league book because I go to more minor-league games.

Re: MLB Pass-Ports

Getting a stamp from a US game played in a foreign park must be a real bragging point.
