Two-time Pro-Bowler (1968–1969). Second in

voting for UPI AFL Player of the Year (1969).

Sixth in voting for AP AFL Player of the Year

(1969). Had the two highest scoring seasons

in Jets' history — 145 points (1968) and 129

points (1969). Both figures led the AFL. Super

Bowl III champion, connecting on three field

goals and an extra point — his points

representing the difference in scoring in the

game. Third all-time in scoring as a Jet. AFL

All-Time Second Team. Held the AFL/NFL single-

season scoring record until 1983.
AP Comeback Player of the Year (2006). Two

seasons (2002, 2006) with over 3,000 yards.

Led league in completion percentage, TD

percentage, and rating in 2002. Started five

playoff games as a Jet, winning two. Best QB

rating for any Jets passer with more than 100

attempts. Tops in team history in completion

percentage. Fourth in team history in passing

attempts, completions, yards, and touchdowns.

Tops in team history in completion percentage.


#1 in LEAGUE history at the time of his retirement in 2010 at 66% - the NFL game has changed and he is now 10th only 13 years later with 8 of the 9 guys ahead of him starting their careers after he retired (the exception is Drew Brees, whose percentage increased in later years but was below Pennington's when he retired.)
