Reyes was perhaps the hottest pitcher with Syracuse, coming off a seven-inning/one-run performance against Worcester. He pitches to contact — low hit numbers, but low strikeout numbers. He goes deep into games because of this, but tends to give up that one three-run homer that undermines his effort, so it's better to get him out one batter early than one batter late, but in a double-header, that may not be workable.

Give the outfielders' arms a little credit there. If it's possible to take an extra base off an outfielder, a Brave will do it easily.

Denyi Reyes deserves a minor hand for that effort. The tough part for him is that he's been pitching with something like this outfield alignment for Syracuse.

The Braves have now scored 12 runs in 14 innings across two games, the majority of them after two were out. The Mets have left 19 runners stranded on base in 13 innings ... and of course scored no runs.

Do you think that maybe walking a 35 HR Righty batter after you had him 0-2 so you could face a 40 (now 41) HR Lefty with an extra runner on base was perhaps not the wisest strategy? Braves have now scored 15 runs in 15 innings with 'only' 2 HRs. That's usually their total for the top of the 1st The cumulative score in this series could quite possibly wind up in the 45 or 50 to nothing range.

Wow, this Mets team is epically bad right now. The Braves are showing just how huge the talent gap is between themselves the Mets. Worse yet, the Braves are reasonably young and knowing their history, they will almost assuredly bring up yet another youngster from their farm system that becomes a major contributor and ROY contender in 2024.
