We have our heavyweight lineup in. I like it Goldschmidt has been a major disappointment after winning the MVP I saw Senga is recruiting one of the better Japanese pitchers coming to the states next year

It looks like the Mets are about 7 1/2 back of Philly Miami Cincy etc Stranger things have happened but admittedly not that much more than this would take

Prior to the game, the Mets selected LHP Adam Kolarek from Triple-A Syracuse and recalled RHP Vinny Nittoli. To make room, the team optioned LHP Joey Lucchesi back to Syracuse. The Mets also designated RHP Dennis Santana for assignment. I hat these new option rules. Later

Many of them at AAA, or with the Dodgers. Others were hurt. Others were here, but not doing well.

After the last two months or so of hoping that Batientos wouldn't fumble/bobble/kick/trip and/or bounce a throw, seeing Mendick make all the plays without drama is a nice sight.

That new StL 1Bman Luken Baker is from Houston rather than Luchenbach, Texas is a crying shame. And it's a double crying shame if he's not using the Waylon Jennings song as his walk-up music in any case.

So tonight, Keith wasn't sure on whether "Running on Empty" is a Jackson Browne song, wasn't familiar with "The Angels Want to Wear My Red Shoes," and thought the lack of pedestrians in downtown St. Louis is somehow related to to the NBA Hawks leaving town in 1968. And he forgot his shirt.

The Mets gain on San Francisco (thanks, Braves?), Cincinnati (thanks, Jays!), and Miami in both the division and Wild Card races (thanks, Dodgers!). The Diamondbacks are up 8–1 on the Pads in the ninth, so in all likelihood, the Mets gain on San Diego as well, putting them within a half game of fifth place in the Wild Card race. Either way, they have closed their net deficit from 26.5 to 23.5 games with tonight's win. The Crane Pool Heat Index has them as the hottest team in the NL right now. Lastly, they lowered their run differential to -30 with tonight's win — the highest it's been since the last time they were at -30, or something.
