Adding a veteran journeyman outfielder at the end of his career can do a lot of things. Helping to redeem the last third of a losing season seems like more than a stretch, though.
The list above is of guys who were longtime outfielders, sorta-starters-but-sorta-reserves during their primes, all with the Braves on the résumés, all who came up not particularly because of merit so much as a rough spell of attrition for one reason or another.
All came to mind as I read about Almonte. That's not fair to Abraham, but that's what happened.
