team All-Pro (1964, 1965). AP AFL Rookie of

the Year (1964). UPI AFL Rookie of the Year

(1964). Fourth in voting for AP AFL Player of

the Year (1969). Led league in touches

(1964).



Fourth all-time in franchise rushing yards.

Tenth all-time in rushing touchdowns. Fourth

all-time in rushing attempts.



Super Bowl III champion. Ran for 121 yards

and lone touchdown in Super Bowl III. Also

caught four passes for 40 yards and did kick

and punt coverage in the game, but somehow

didn't win MVP. New York Jets Ring of Honor.

Despite a long career as a businessman,

activist, phanthropist, speaker, and advocate

for athletes who suffered brain injuries

during their careers, concussive brain

syndrome was cited as one of the causes of

his ultimate passing, and he asked that his

brain be donated for research.
Appeared in the first ever commercial in

Miller Lite's iconic “Tastes Great-Less Filling/

Everything You Always Wanted in a Beer.

And Less.” campaign.
