Cubs call up Pete Crow-Armstrong today He has been crushing it in the minors I was happy to get Baez at the time but good lord this has gone badly

Murals of Julio Urias at Dodger Stadium have been covered up. That makes sense. You can't feature a guy under investigation for domestic assault in your marketing. That's a no-brainer. But reports also say that his locker has been physically removed from the locker room. That's a little more hardcore and personal, I think. I'm guessing they're going to do some extensive vetting any pitchers they recruit this offseason.

The Astros have a no-hitter going, and Rafael Montero is part of it. Who'd have thought that he might outlast deGrom?

Braves clinch division (Yawn!) ... although I don't think Matt Olson hit any HRs today. Austin Riley though giving the Braves their usual 2-0 lead entering the bottom of the 1st

Some red hot AL East action going on tonight at both ends of the standings. The Yanx, who swept the Sawx at home last week, lose the first of a rain induced DH at Fenway today to drop back under .500 They currently lead the nightcap 5-4 in bottom 6 Don't think I'll be awake for the end of this one. Rays, who trail the Orioles for 1st place by 2 games, are in Baltimore to start a four game set tonight. 4-3 Tampa Bay in the 7th

NYY pitcher Anthony Misiewicz (3rd game for Yanx, recent waiver pickup) just got drilled in the head by a liner in Pittsburgh. Ball then sailed into RF. Conscious, but obviously not in good shape.

Yanx get four in top 9th to beat Pyroots. The ball off the skull play actually tied up the game and the Bucs went on to take a two run lead later that inning which they held ... until they didn't.

I usually use the toilet before cleaning out my locker, that way I don't have to leave my bags on the men's room floor while I strain. Embarrassing all round for the Angels, and I'm suspecting GM Perry Minasian is feeling a little hot in his seat. I don't know if he deserves it, but it'll be sad if he gets lopped, as he's worked his way all the way up from Rangers batboy to Angels GM.

If Ohtani did indeed pack his bags and leave it was likely with team permission as he was put on the IL today and will not play again this season. It also means that Pete will best him in HRs That didn't look very likely a few weeks back.

Not that it means anything to the Braves, but the Marlins hung a six-spot on 'Lanta in the bottom 8th, all coming after two outs and none on!!! A Jazz Chisholm 2-strike/2-out Grand Salami was the coup de grace and obviously this was a huge deal for Miami as they suddenly turn into NYM fans for the rest of the weekend.

Maybe but it's sure a weird way to let the story play out. The press finds out his season is over from the empty locker. And then everybody finds out he's gone because he's spotted at the airport getting on a plane to Japan. It certainly invites inferences.
