Let's keep this simple. No caveats. Should the Mets let Buck Showalter manage the team in 2024, or should they move on to someone else?

Re: Bring Back Buck?

I'm a yes. Even though he seemed to do a shitty job this year, I think a new guy would be a distraction. Plus I think Buck can bounce back

Re: Bring Back Buck?

i don't think he was necessarily the problem, but i suspect that he might've been at least part of it.

plus, his former teams have a tendency to win immediately/shortly thereafter, so...

Yes. I feel like he is a net-positive known quantity. I'm not interested in cycling through the Callaways and Rojases again.

I'm fine with Buck for one more year. If the Mets suck at the all-star

break in '24 kick his sorry millionaire ass to the curb and bring in Bartolo.

Yeah, Buck has had a fine career. I don't give him the blame for the way 2022 ended, and I'm willing to give him a mulligan for 2023. Eppler, too. Sometimes trying to train a new team every couple of years is worse than sticking with the current team and giving them a shot at improvement.

Bartolo would make an excellent hitting instructor, though.

Re: Bring Back Buck?

I think there are lots of reasons the 2023 Mets were a mess, and I get pretty far down the list before I reach Buck. And even then it's a maybe. Just speculation.

Give him a team with actual pitching and let's see how he does.

Re: Bring Back Buck?

I like Buck and think he's done a great job and would love to have him back. I get that Counsell is going to be a free agent. But I don't know if he really wants to leave Milwaukee.

Carter would have been a great manager.

He'd do a tremendous job of working (i.e., manipulating) the press to win a Manager of the Year award.

How do you know?

I don't know if I could last to the AS break.

His formulaic bullpen usage, his random number generated lineups and siting players after a hot game would have driven me nuts by then.

Duly noted. Where do you stand on Gary Carter rising from the dead

to dupe the media for manager of the year votes?

As long as there is a camera, Gary would try.

Right, Camera Carter lol...

Gary you went 0 for 4 today with two infield fly outs and two K's swinging.

Tell us about it. How does my hair look? We'll get 'em tomorrow.
