Can anyone find the thread?

I probably talked about the sadness of him winding up in the Brooklyn bullpen during covid, and the exhibition game he pitched game against the Mets in Las Vegas.

Then there was his controversial Schafer Award

Do you suppose such guys develop significantly as pitchers, learn stuff (like new pitches), get lightbulb-going-off advice from new pitching coaches, etc. or just keep plugging away with the tools they have and their luck evens out?

Another way of putting this is: do you suppose the Mets would have reaped the benefits of their later improvements, had they been more patient, or did they have to go through what they went through elsewhere in order to bring such results around?

His record with the Mets was 1-14 with a 5.50 ERA and 3 saves in 125 games over four years.

I think the patience with him was worn thin by the time they let him go.

Based on those numbers you couldn't predict much future success.

I don't know that that's true.

His xERA and FIP always outpaced his actual ERA and not by a little. Maybe the Mets thought it would never even out but the Mariners got it right.
