Curious to see if this ever leaves the planning board

The traffic on the Whitestone Expressway is starting to back up as we speak.

If they're replacing the parking lot with a multi-story parking garage it will be a nightmare.

I parked in the garage at Yankee Stadium II on the day in 1985 when Tom Seaver won his 300th game. It took me forever to get out of there.

This new construction gives me an feeling of the same kind of cluster fuck unless they improve the road system. And I didn't see any new roads in that drawing. But it wouldn't be the worst stadium exit I've heard of.

I was in Kansas City when there was a Monday Night Football Game. Some fans didn't get out of the parking lot until seven in the morning. Some bright light in the police force decided to give every driver leaving the lot a breathalyzer test. There was such a backlash, it caused the Police Chief to resign and almost ousted the Mayor.

A little easier to look at for those who prefer a 1024 px image on a

computer over a 7 inch phone screen...

Re: Metropolitan Park

Biggest new part of the footprint seems to be the gaming facility.

Re: Metropolitan Park

They don't need new roads, and there wouldn't be anyplace to put them anyway. People would take the same route to the same location.

Parking would be disrupted during construction, but surface parking is a terrible waste of space in a place like new york.

Casino would be something of a Longshot -- there are only so many licenses available and lots of developers want them

Re: Metropolitan Park

Right, and that's the real prize here for Cohen , that gambling license, there are several people looking to get that, one proposal has it in Manhattan

Re: Metropolitan Park

It's probably less likely that Cohen attains the license than it is that whoever does attain it becomes a partner or tenant with Cohen.

Re: Metropolitan Park

It seems like there's room for more parking if they're inclined to add it. You'd have to walk a little more.

I'm surprised there's no interest in developing the waterfront space. Seems like a huge waste.

Quite the dive by New York's Andrew Rice on how all this is (or msy not be) coming together.

If it was up to me, I would include a baseball field with the diamond aligned with where the old Shea Stadium diamond was.

I'd support a big gambling facility if the only game they offered for gambling was Yahtzee.

[BLOCKQUOTE]He confirmed the word I had heard around the baseball industry: that he had offered his fellow owners assurances before the vote that he was committed to controlling players' salaries.[/BLOCKQUOTE]

Really strange that this gang can openly confess to price-fixing, and pass it off as a virtue.

A little wiffle ball field that looked like old Shea would be awesome

That will happen only if they can charge $70/half hour to use it.

Re: Metropolitan Park

The fact that they've released a map of ground space allotment without any design mockups of the proposed facilities makes me suspicious that this was done in a crazy hurry. Like they were going to be shut out of any chance at that gaming license unless they had publicly released some plans for a multi-use facility for community and agency feedback.
