Says the Post. Vladi Miguel Guerrero, that is. He's the 17-year-old brother of Vlad Jr., which must be confusing around the dinner table.

If you are wondering, Ohtani has one older sister, Yuka, and one older brother, Ryuta, who is also an amateur baseball player in the Japanese Industrial League.

Wait — is Vladdy's sister romantically linked to Shohei Ohtani?

The Mets have been down this road before, signing infielder Gregory Guerrero, cousin of Vladi, Jr., and nephew of Vladi, Sr.

In fact, they just released him on November 10th, less than three weeks ago. I guess the family doesn't hold grudges.

Re: Mets getting Vladi Guerrero!

Question that I'm embarrassed to ask, but do we have any Hall-of-Fame father/son combos?

I imagine that the Vladimirs have half a chance, and Ken Griffey, Sr. could break through on a veterans committee ballot, but I get the idea that I'm missing somebody. In fact, the only such combo I can think of in the four major US team sports is Bobby and Brett Hull. (I don't think Mark Howe was enshrined, but what do I know about ice hockey?)

(Parenthetical Edit: Hey, wow! Mark Howe is in!)

one could make a solid argument for bobby and barry bonds.

of course, one could also make one hell of an argument against, well, barry bonds.

which is a damned fucking shame because that dude was a slam dunk hall of famer before he ever started on the sauce.

Larry and Lee MacPhail.

Re: Mets getting Vladi Guerrero!

I guess that counts, but it's very interesting that, whatever advantages bloodlines and wealth give you, they've almost never created a two-generation Hall-of-Fame playing legacy.

And I suspect when they do, it's as likely as not going to be in different sports. Maybe Charles Seaver will someday make the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine.
