This came up on my timeline recently, everything about this is solid gold , and wow what a time this was , the Omar Mets , a time of chaos , but also of great joy, Los Mets

I have no doubt Rubin was lobbying for a job , fun times

"has lobby"

I vaguely recall watching this live and my jaw dropping open, coming here and saying Jeff & Fred had to fire Omar immediately. Of course they didn't.

It would have been legendary if Jeff had gone onto the podium and fired him right there in front of the cameras.

Re: The Los(t) Mets Years

Pourquoi devrais-je baiser Adam Rubin? He may have gotten his back up more than I might've, but Omar Minaya, in representing my team, really blew this.

Media relations was never his strong suit, but when that's the situation, just say less, and let the PR reps parse out the messaging. Everything collapsed from this point forward, but it was hardly the beginning of the end of Minaya's regime. It was just another step in Minaya utterly losing control of the organization's trajectory.

The common thread of that era is that Minaya, Randolph, Bernazard, and Manuel all had chips on their shoulders to varying degrees. All seemingly were trying to put on a brave face to cover some sort of insecurity. The "Los Mets" narrative creating a distrust between the white fan base and the media that fed them on one side and the largely POC brain trust on the other certainly didn't help, but once you start fronting and trying to push past that sort of bullshit, it makes you stupider, more stubborn, and more shortsighted in your decisions.
