IGT -- Mets @ Phils, 5/10
Johnny Dickshot May 10 2006 09:28 AM |
I am declaring an ABP for the Met offense tonight. I want to see them score a dozen runs and bounce back from their minislump. I want David Wright to be in the middle of not one but three run-scoring rallies. I want Billy Wagner and his big mouth to watch from the bullpen while he gets the night off.
cooby May 10 2006 09:29 AM |
Me too! I'm ready for a blowout!
soupcan May 10 2006 09:32 AM |
The sad thing is we stole that win from them last night and then politely handed it back.
Yancy Street Gang May 10 2006 09:34 AM |
Yeah. The way things are, any game started by Pedro or Glavine is a must-win, because of how shaky things get after that.
Johnny Dickshot May 10 2006 09:53 AM |
The ever-handy UMBD notes that was win No. 400 for the Phils in their history vs. the Mets. Phuckers.
Elster88 May 10 2006 09:54 AM |
Your new avatar says it perfectly, Yancy.

did you note their overall record vs. the Phils? Reyes swings at shit for a ground out. LoDuca wrists a single to left center. Come on Carlos B.
Zvon May 10 2006 07:12 PM |
Beltran puts one right thru 1st baseman Howards legs--wow--that was a wicked shot.
Zvon May 10 2006 07:13 PM |
Utley makes a great play--Lidle makes a BAD error trying to get Beltran at 3rd.
Johnny Dickshot May 10 2006 07:19 PM |
The ordered beatdown is on. Crooked numbers every inning I say.
Johnny Dickshot May 10 2006 07:23 PM |
the UMDB is handy for everyone ya know.

GYC May 10 2006 07:23 PM |
That was one sexy double play.
Zvon May 10 2006 07:25 PM |

Im with ya J.D.-- damn-whats this umps strike zone? Glavines curve ball right thru the zone is a ball. Nice DP pulled by the Mets, Reyes to Matsui (with the bare hand and pivot---nice) to Delgado. Phils home crowd sound flat and bored.
Zvon May 10 2006 07:27 PM |
thank you sir. And you are correct--im a lazy bastard. Nady lines one for a single.

Im not sure--answer in the 7th frame- The only one that stands out for me is Seavers in 69. Im not only gonna go out on a limb here,..ill go out on one a those planks on a pirate ship and predict Trachsel's gonna pitch the Mets 1st no-no tomorrow. Ryan Howard makes another big Phil error to help the Mets along.

Now this is a great in game thread. I hope they save some offense for the tail end of the rotation.

What are the Braves doing?
Rockin' Doc May 10 2006 08:07 PM |

GYC May 10 2006 08:11 PM |
Around the league:
Willets Point May 10 2006 08:12 PM |
Tommy G is the 38th pitcher in MLB history to reach the 4000 innings pitched milestone.
Rockin' Doc May 10 2006 08:20 PM |
Matsui the only starter without a hit tonight.
Willets Point May 10 2006 08:21 PM |
Uh-oh, down 1-2-3. Where did the O go?
GYC May 10 2006 08:23 PM |

Bite your tongue..... DAMN---Burrel homers. i blame you yance... ;)
GYC May 10 2006 08:29 PM |
Burrell can suck it.
Willets Point May 10 2006 08:30 PM |
F'in Burrell!
Yancy Street Gang May 10 2006 08:30 PM |
Saves us some suspense. Now I can watch Lost without wondering about the no-hitter. Just as I was putting it in TiVo, too. I guess I'll tune in after Lost and see if the Phillies have tied the score.
Willets Point May 10 2006 08:30 PM |
Glavine's melting down.
Yancy Street Gang May 10 2006 08:31 PM |
Release him!
Willets Point May 10 2006 08:33 PM |
Trade him for a bucket of balls!
GYC May 10 2006 08:33 PM |
Ithink David Bell needs his diaper changed, or something.
Zvon May 10 2006 08:34 PM |
Glavine has thrown alot of pitches tonight (68 thru 4)...its almost a blessing cuz he wasnt gonna go 9.
ScarletKnight41 May 10 2006 08:34 PM |
David Bell never smiles. Ever.
Zvon May 10 2006 08:35 PM |
Dont even THINK that. Glavine with his 2nd hit of the night.
Willets Point May 10 2006 08:37 PM |
Convert him from pitcher to batter!
Zvon May 10 2006 08:38 PM |
I saw him smile once when he got hit by a pitch. ....it could have been a grimace. Fultz may as well throw the resin bag along with the ball. Ive never seen so much powder come off a pitchers toss like that.
metirish May 10 2006 08:39 PM |
2 run double for Delgado....

Not much to complain about tonight but Reyes leaving guys on 3rd with 1 out twice -- yuk.
Johnny Dickshot May 10 2006 09:49 PM |
Got his teammate an RBI. If the Phils are sore about this they can bite my big yellow ass.
metirish May 10 2006 09:50 PM |
These un-written rules are silly, play the game and that's that.

swingin over the top of junk too. I think they should score as many as they possibly can. If the Phils somehow mount a comeback do you think they are gonna say, "hey, wait!-you got 9 runs,...we concede." They hit us cuzza that all hells gonna break loose.
Nymr83 May 10 2006 09:52 PM |
i dont think you tag up unless the ball is hit deeply enough that you can walk home, you also dont steal bases, its just the right way to play the game, and if i were the phillies i'd peg someone tonight.

I think thats bullshit.
Nymr83 May 10 2006 09:57 PM |
disrespecting your opponent is bullshit. its the same as throwing the ball up multiple scores in the closing minutes of an NFL game or trying to get quick shots off up 25 in the closing minutes of a basketball game.
Zvon May 10 2006 09:57 PM |
LMAO----

Nymr83 May 10 2006 09:58 PM |

Zvon May 10 2006 09:58 PM |
Bullshit-theres no time clock in baseball.
Edgy DC May 10 2006 09:59 PM |
To heck with the right way to play the game. The most a team owes you in the late innings of a blowout is to pull a few of their stars. You can't ask players --- particularly those struggling to retain or improve their roles --- not to play.
Nymr83 May 10 2006 09:59 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on May 10 2006 10:00 PM |

and you can technically score a TD, recover the onside kick and score again and then do it again in football, that doesnt mean a team up 21 is throwing with 3 minutes left

metirish May 10 2006 10:02 PM |
Great, now we are talking about how the Mets should play a blow out game, cool, let's have that every IGT.
Frayed Knot May 10 2006 10:03 PM |
Throwing bombs for TDs late in a game where there's a finite amount of time to score is not the same thing as simply deciding not to play. "Running out the clock" helps the winning team to win since it, well ... runs out the clock. Choosing not to tag doesn't bring about the end of the game any sooner.
Zvon May 10 2006 10:06 PM |
......that last out was interesting.
Nymr83 May 10 2006 10:07 PM |
yes. i hope to repeat this argument often.
Zvon May 10 2006 10:10 PM |

Glavine is one SO away from Koufax on the all-time list, Koufax might be the greatest pitcher ever....
Nymr83 May 10 2006 10:14 PM |
best big-game pitcher at least and possibly the guy with the highest peak, but he just didnt have the longevity

Zvon May 10 2006 10:47 PM |
I did mean Skanks up 7-3---switched to that after the Philadelphia massacre. The chance I was hoping for was a Boston comeback. Didnt happen :(

Sorry - I misread that.

no problembo-- When the Mets bludgeon a team like they did tonight, all is good no matter what and I forgive everything. ;)

Well I looked for the Ex-Mets thread but didn't find it, maybe I am blind, anyway Kazmir tonight in Seattle went 7 innings with 9 SO for the win...

Heh. One of the funniest things I've ever hear a sports radio host do to an ignorant caller happened one day when a young caller called Russ Salzberg on WFAN. The caller said he looked at Koufax's stats and wondered "Where's The Beef" and Russ laid into him like the caller was defacing a sacred landmark. What made it funny was, Russ didn't actually answer the question, just basically acted all "How dare YOU QUESTION the greatness of Sandy Koufax ya punk!" and hung up the phone! I really wonder how Salzberg lasted as long as he did on that station
metirish May 10 2006 11:05 PM |
yeah, Koufax in 1963 was the best ever......if I had a wish of any player I could see it would be Koufax in '63.....for every game he pitched.
Elster88 May 12 2006 02:17 PM |
I never saw the David Wright play, and forgot to TiVo Sportscenter yesterday. I'm very sad.
