IGT: Mets @ Phils 5/11 + IGT Mojo
Johnny Dickshot May 11 2006 07:33 AM |
In light of my eerie prediction yesterday, I'd like to keep my IGT Mojo going, and in light of Willets' contention recently that he was "bad luck" when starting IGTs propose we do a stupid thing and reserve the first post in a game-thread to the same author, consecutively, for as long as the team wins the game(s) they start.
Edgy DC May 11 2006 07:52 AM |
No game specific performance demands for this one?
Johnny Dickshot May 11 2006 08:05 AM |
I don't wanna get into that. I had a strong feeling yesterday.
abogdan May 11 2006 12:34 PM |
I'm assuming that someone will, of course, be keeping track of all IGT thread starter records. That way we know who to go to in the middle of a losing streak.
Centerfield May 11 2006 12:39 PM |
I'm confused. So two weeks from now, when the winning streak is over, does that mean Rockin Doc has to start the next IGT?
Nymr83 May 11 2006 12:46 PM |
i think after a loss we should just let whoever wants to start it (and has something to say other than "woohoo i started it") do so.
Elster88 May 11 2006 01:26 PM |
It's a cute idea, but silly. Let's do it.
Centerfield May 11 2006 01:28 PM |
I like NewYorkMayoR's idea. A loss wipes the slate clean and it's anyone's game.
metirish May 11 2006 01:44 PM |
It's supposed to rain very heavy in NY tonight, any word on Philly, rain + Traschel = a long night.
KC May 11 2006 01:47 PM |
MFS posted in some thread here that it's gonna rain cats and dogs.
Edgy DC May 11 2006 01:58 PM |
I see Eager Elmos starting threads five minutes after the previous game ends.
old original jb May 11 2006 02:04 PM |
The SBS greatly approves of this new practice, but urges, nay implores, threadstarters not to overexpress their CAHNfidence in any IGT.

Wasn't before, but I'm really bored today. Currently leading our standings is KC...
Edgy DC May 11 2006 02:27 PM |
Gwreck is aggresive, but has the game to back it up.
Willets Point May 11 2006 02:29 PM |
I SUCK!!!
Gwreck May 11 2006 02:29 PM |
I was surprised that it was that many. Anyway, what with the new system (it's a good idea) I won't be posting for a while.
Willets Point May 11 2006 02:30 PM |
First game after Johnny loses I want Gwreck in there.
Centerfield May 11 2006 02:31 PM |
Starting IGT's, like the save rule, should take into account degree of difficulty. It's one thing to get fat on Florida/Nationals games. It's another to start a St. Louis IGT.
Centerfield May 11 2006 02:32 PM |
Sure. Wear out your horse in May. Good job Wilie.
Willets Point May 11 2006 02:36 PM |
Willets please, I don't go by the diminutive.
Gwreck May 11 2006 02:44 PM |
Very true. Also, gotta consider whether it's a lot of Pedro/Glavine starts or "other pitchers" starts...
Rotblatt May 11 2006 02:45 PM |
I disagree. We need more stats--who has the best record after a loss? That's the person who should be our designated stopper.
Gwreck May 11 2006 02:52 PM |
Sample size a little too small for meaningful statistics. I did notice that SteveJRogers declared a "must win series" against the Braves, started the IGT for the first game and victory followed. mlbaseballtalk also declared the start of a turnaround after a 2-game losing streak, started the IGT vs. the Giants (another victory).
metirish May 11 2006 02:54 PM |
So what happens if the Mets win lets say 8 or 9 in a row, it would be abuse to just keep throwing Dickshot out there everyday.
soupcan May 11 2006 02:55 PM |
Abuse him! Abuse him!
metirish May 11 2006 03:05 PM |
Who's turn is it for the Brewers KTE?
ScarletKnight41 May 11 2006 03:10 PM |
Gwreck is going to do the Brewers, as per his trade with me.
sharpie May 11 2006 05:35 PM |
Cliff's debut in the #2 spot:
Centerfield May 11 2006 05:45 PM |
I don't get what Willie is thinking sometimes. Maybe he thinks the worst hitter in the lineup is supposed to hit #2.
Gwreck May 11 2006 05:54 PM |
Perhaps the idea is that if Floyd hits #2, he'll get better pitches to hit, with Beltran, Delgado and Wright behind him?
Gwreck May 11 2006 05:57 PM |
Weather update:
Willets Point May 11 2006 06:25 PM |
I may get to Milwaukee before the Mets.

Nymr83 May 11 2006 06:44 PM |
Batting Floyd 2nd is a little weird but if its just for one night oh well who cares.
KC May 11 2006 06:48 PM |
I'm not at the tv, but I think I heard from the other room that the tarp is still on?
Gwreck May 11 2006 06:59 PM |
True. No rain falling though -- I don't understand. It's probably going to take at least 2 hours for the rain to get there, rain, and pass. No sense waiting for that.
Nymr83 May 11 2006 07:16 PM |
The tarp has been rolled up and they are getting under way...
Zvon May 11 2006 07:29 PM |

Was Nady's ball going out? Howie Rose says "one of the best catches you'll see all year."

Great catch by Rowand robbing 2-3 runs off the bat off Nady.
Zvon May 11 2006 07:32 PM |
bleeding badley from the nose too.
TransMonk May 11 2006 07:32 PM |
Ball wouldn't have left the yard, but would have bounced off the wall.
Zvon May 11 2006 07:34 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on May 11 2006 07:35 PM |

...and Roland still would have bounced off the wall.(and hit that metal) Ball would have bounced straight back to center. Inside the park grand slam homer.
TransMonk May 11 2006 07:34 PM |
Will be remembered as one of the best defensive plays of the year...good for him, hope he's not too banged up.

Zvon May 11 2006 07:49 PM |
Burrell is just such an awful fielder (watch-now he robs a homer).
Zvon May 11 2006 07:53 PM |
Roland broke his nose on that catch.
TransMonk May 11 2006 07:54 PM |
Rowand broke his nose!

Floyd (Cliff) robbed of an infield single by the ump. Phillie announcers both said "huh!" in unison as they watched the replay. "I thought ties went to the runner, but the Phils will take it."
Zvon May 11 2006 08:16 PM |
Whew---Chase almost hits another.........

No I can't make it Sunday because I've got to catch my flight back Sunday afternoon - so no Pedro or pink bats for me. I'll be at Friday and Saturday's games.
Willets Point May 11 2006 08:51 PM |
It's kind of fun watching phans trying to put rain ponchos on.
SteveJRogers May 11 2006 08:52 PM |
I really have no idea what me or my other handle will be doing this weekend. Friday I'll be in enemy territory rooting for the A's, Saturday its a class all afternoon! and Sunday is Mommy day

pics are coming in but no Rowand catch yet.
Zvon May 11 2006 09:26 PM |
The Utley homer......(that bastage)
metirish May 11 2006 09:46 PM |
Some player is Utley, meanwhile the MFY's are beating the Sox 3 to 2, Ron fucking Villone just out of a bases loaded jam....he is now a MFY warrior.
Zvon May 11 2006 09:46 PM |
This pic makes it look easy.
Zvon May 11 2006 09:48 PM |
Abreu was right there (looks like from that one view) so i guess it wouldnt have been an inside the parker----
metirish May 11 2006 09:51 PM |
Matsui the MFY one is to have surgery tomorrow morning on his wrist, he fractured it in the first inning tonight.

Bye bye consecutive games played streak-- who's the active leader now?
Willets Point May 11 2006 09:55 PM |
Poor guy. I actually kind of like him for a MFY.
Zvon May 11 2006 09:56 PM |
no shit....wow. Weathers blew the save in the Arroyo game---so I did jinx him. Still-- 8 shutout innings. ERA has been a painful catagory for me.
DocTee May 11 2006 09:58 PM |
This is a perfect example of why "get-away games' should be played in the afternoon-- no way this is a lengthy delay.
Zvon May 11 2006 10:07 PM |
yea, you have a point. That Pirate game was a day game and they had plenty of time to wait. I read the D'Backs have complained that that game was called to soon. It dont look so bad right now--not pouring like before. But still raining. The Matsui double:
abogdan May 11 2006 10:28 PM |
Any updates on if/when they're starting up again?
ScarletKnight41 May 11 2006 10:29 PM |
There's no way they're starting again. The weather forecast is for horrible weather throughout the night.
Willets Point May 11 2006 10:32 PM |
Did you have trouble putting on a poncho?
abogdan May 11 2006 10:34 PM |

Zvon May 11 2006 10:48 PM |

Miguel Tejada, and his streak started before Matui's did (unless you count Matsui's games from Japan).

metirish May 11 2006 11:42 PM |
there is nothing worse than Steve Traschel getting rained out, he nearly pulled it off though......what a shitty night.
The Big O May 12 2006 05:28 AM |
First time we've been shut out this year. (Projected rate: 4.76. Not bad.) Second lowest combined run total of the year. We've won 20 of our last 31.
