IGT 05/17 - Mets at Cards
KC May 17 2006 06:07 PM |
(Ticker) It took a little rain, but the New York Mets finally figured out how to solve Albert Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals.

KC May 17 2006 07:42 PM |
Thanks, I kept checking three sites and the lineup was tardy.
TransMonk May 17 2006 08:06 PM |
Ewww...Joe Buck...great.
Willets Point May 17 2006 08:23 PM |
Pujols 0 for his last 10. What are we to make of this?
Edgy DC May 17 2006 08:27 PM |
From the Cardinal Broadcast: The Nextel Text Messaging Question: What is Albert Pujols' greatest asset?Wow.
TransMonk May 17 2006 08:36 PM |
Joe Buck about the poll: I choose D, leadership.
Edgy DC May 17 2006 08:47 PM |
I choose F. He makes butter taste creamier.

Games on ESPN.
cooby May 17 2006 08:54 PM |
Anybody know why I would be getting a soccer game on ESPN instead on the Mets game?
Willets Point May 17 2006 08:57 PM |
Is it the European Cup Championship: Arsenal v. Barcelona? Not to spoil it for you but Barcelona won.
cooby May 17 2006 08:58 PM |
At least you're getting the game! My TV Guide Channel says the game should be on and, yes it's friggin World Cup. Why would it be blacked out?
OlerudOwned May 17 2006 09:00 PM |
I don't think they ever show SNY games on ESPN in the local area.
cooby May 17 2006 09:07 PM |
But I live 200 miles away...
Willets Point May 17 2006 09:12 PM |
Fuckin' A. I walk back in the room and they're saying there's a home run for the Cardinals. Then I find out it was just a replay of McGwire #62.
Zvon May 17 2006 09:16 PM |
If your ESPN feed is out of the NY area, they will block you. Mines out of Delaware. They block Wash National games that they broadcast here, tho Im far from Washington. They dont go by where I am- they go by where I get the signal from.
cooby May 17 2006 09:18 PM |
That explains (perhaps!) why Yancy and my daughter can get the Mets on MLB Extra Innings and I can't!

Ha! Ive been called alot of things- never that. I found out early in the season when the Mets were in Washington. I was pretty ticked off about not being able to see the game they broadcast, but I knew the upside would be better. All Ill lose is Nats games and they wont be showing too many of them on ESPN. Do I smell a rally here? 1st and 3rd, 1 out.
TransMonk May 17 2006 09:24 PM |
Top fifth: Wright on 3rd after a double and a Floyd GO, Nady hit by a pitch on first.
TransMonk May 17 2006 09:27 PM |
Kaz fails to score the runner. GRRRR...
Zvon May 17 2006 09:28 PM |
Kaz poops up.

Wasted chances are no fun.
martin May 17 2006 09:28 PM |
they always black out my espn in jersey city when a met game is on, which is terrible becaue the espn feed is in HD and the SNY one isnt. and i complain to comcast that they should put the SNY HD feed on over espn HD instead of a blank screen, but they are are not tryin to hear that.
Willets Point May 17 2006 09:33 PM |
Poop ups require a certain amount of skill, but they always end messy.
A Boy Named Seo May 17 2006 09:35 PM |
Yusmeiro Petit sighting in Atlanta. Two scoreless innings so far. I saw him get shelled in Albuquerque as an Isotope just a week or so ago.
OlerudOwned May 17 2006 09:39 PM |
Did they really use Willis as their first PH off the bench or is GameCast messing with me.
Zvon May 17 2006 09:43 PM |
...those bastages. pooping up isnt easy, cuz poop usually does not want to defy gravity. Reyes grundges out to the pitcher. Thats weak. OW-and then Mulder Ks LaDuke and Carlos Bee.
A Boy Named Seo May 17 2006 09:45 PM |
It sure looks like they did. And it worked, too.
Zvon May 17 2006 09:45 PM |
they have used him as a PH before, tho i dunno if it was 1st off the bench. he singled-ha.
Zvon May 17 2006 09:48 PM |
Pujols walks.

How did Rolen even hit that? It was in the dirt almost. Can't blame trachsel for that inning.
TransMonk May 17 2006 09:52 PM |
I blame Zambrano. Rolen should try out for the PGA.

Milwaukee came back from 3 down to lead the Phils 6-4.

Zvon May 17 2006 09:56 PM |
He did go down and get that pitch. Frank Lary? I learn something new everyday. Lary pitched in 27 games for the Mets in 64/65. Delgado and Wright hit it well, but not well enough. Come on Cliffy--slap that ball.
Edgy DC May 17 2006 09:58 PM |
My fault. Rally song came too late.
Zvon May 17 2006 09:58 PM |

I don't think it's an "always" sort of thing, but certainly "occasionally" that Willis is 1st off the bench.

Looper is up in the pen, there is hope........
GYC May 17 2006 10:28 PM |
Disgusting at bat by Reyes but he gets a double! Looper up in the bullpen!
Willets Point May 17 2006 10:28 PM |
Runnin' Reyes doubles to lead off.
Edgy DC May 17 2006 10:28 PM |
Cool beans. Reyes leads off with a double. Thought he'd go for three.
GYC May 17 2006 10:28 PM |
Lo Duca with the sac. Fastest I've ever seen him run, too.
Zvon May 17 2006 10:28 PM |
Thank you Jose.

Ouch!
Edgy DC May 17 2006 10:31 PM |
Mulder doesn't want Beltran. He wants Delgado with a guy on base.
Willets Point May 17 2006 10:32 PM |
Pity. Wild pitch would be nice.

Brewers are leading the Phils 7-5 in the 9th.
TransMonk May 17 2006 10:46 PM |

Zvon May 17 2006 10:47 PM |

Willets Point May 17 2006 10:49 PM |
Not that we're compiling it this year, but this one is a should've won.
TransMonk May 17 2006 10:50 PM |
Goddam Brewers......crapsnacks!
Zvon May 17 2006 10:57 PM |
this occured to me when it happened, but all we needed was a fly to the outfield to plate that run. And it ended up we had afew chances for that with Beltran and Delgado reaching (2 chances there) and Wright getting up. Nah, even with the sac we should have scored that run. Brewers get out of it w/o further damage and its 7-7 in the bottom of the 9th.
The Big O May 17 2006 10:57 PM |
Would there have been any point in squeezing with Wright? Would that have made any sense there? Probably not, but it's a thought I had.
metirish May 17 2006 11:00 PM |
Bobby V might have done that......
Rotblatt May 17 2006 11:00 PM |
I thought that too. Dangerous--not Willie's style at all.
TransMonk May 17 2006 11:08 PM |
Well the Brewers managed to leg out their game that got away in the ninth winning 8-7.
Zvon May 17 2006 11:09 PM |
Brewers win with a drive over the centerfielder Victorinos head.
The Big O May 17 2006 11:09 PM |
With the fastest player in beisbol on 3rd and a shut-em-down bullpen ... Maybe David isn't a good bunter. I dunno. I guess they were hoping for, "at worst", the sac fly. I wanted 2 of 3 before Jose Lima's start.
TransMonk May 17 2006 11:11 PM |
Prolly would have broken his nose.
Zvon May 17 2006 11:12 PM |

lmao, or set it right.
DocTee May 17 2006 11:14 PM |
Mets haven't scored a run in either of Trax's last two starts.
Edgy DC May 18 2006 08:01 AM |
As much as last night's ending was disappointing, if Willie bunts with Wright and fails, we'd be having him for breakfast and lunch this morning. Probably if he bunted and failed with Beltran also.
Bret Sabermetric May 18 2006 08:24 AM |
Quite true. But one advantage of Bobby's odd play was that it was unpredictible, so that even if bunting with his best hitter didn't work on a particular night, it kept future defenses from cheating back in the same situation, which in turn made the defense more porous.
