A Mothers Day Weekend Question

Who's the meanest, toughest baseball player you ever saw? You know, the player who you wanted on your side, whether it be a ballgame or a bar fight.
A real "mother".

AND,
Happy Mothers' Day to all you real moms out there.

I wouldn't want him on my side, but the meanest player I ever came in contact with was Will Clark.

After a Cardinals/Giants game in 1989, I approached him for an autograph and he said, "You better get out of my way or I'm gonna knock you down."

I was 14...I got out of his way.

A few;

Hrabosky.

Gorman Thomas.

Dave Stewart.

Kyle Farnsworth.

If I had to pick one, Stormin' Gorman it is.

Transmonk thats total bullshit, I think players should be fined by the team for talking to a young fan that way, i can't think of a better way to lose customers for the ballclub.

Dare I say it? Pete Rose.

Ask Paul Wilson

He'll say Farnsworth. It was a picture perfect form tackle by an ex-linebacker.

Not if Bud Harrelson can take him on.....

My vote goes to Frank Robinson. Second place on my list goes to Bob Gibson.

Jackie Robinson. You remember what Durocher said. "You look for a guy who comes to play. But Robinson didn't just come to play. He came to beat you. He came to shove the goddam bat up your ass!"

No thrill in sports for me ever approaches seeing Jackie Robinson play at Ebbets Field.

I guess Roger Clemens would be the answer. I admired him early on when
on the Red Sox, tired of him from time to time, hated when he went to the
Yanks, really hated him after that game one nonsense with the bat, started
to respect him again when teamed up with that other devil-man on Houston,
biding my time to see if I'm gonna hate him again for running to the Yankke
payout to be the savior - but the guy is/was one muthah of a pitcher.

Harrelson got his ass kicked. Clemons is a good call.

they have already been mentioned here....

Bob Gibson
Frank Robinson
Pete Rose

Ill add Carlton Fisk

Clemens?
I respect the mans accomplishments but he's not all that tough without a baseball in his hand.

Clemens has always done just enough to retain the image of a "gamer," but close inspection says nay.

Heck of a pitcher for a long time. Deserved Hall-of-Famer. Near Met. Strikes me as a phony, though.
