Awesome. Squeeze is the prototype for a band with an excellent greatest hits collection but not much depth. Could be in trouble if you go to tie-breakers.

A friend of mine once told me that they had one of the best greatest hits collections ever. That's how I really started to get into them.

Hey cool! I was gonna nominate Squeeze and live and die with their greatness not being fully appreciated, now you can.

Freakin' iTunes does not include "Take Me I'm Yours" and "Cool for Cats" on the Singles 45's and Under album. I just don't get the partial album.

Both of those toons came from Squeeze's early records, which I'm guessing may have been on another label.

So the other label loans the songs for the greatest hits album on vinyl, cassette and CD formats but not for the same exact album in digital format? I still don't get it.

WOW, Edgy goes with an early Lizzy pic, problem is most of my tunes are from the twin guitar lead era of Robertson and Gorham....

Pretty early Squeeze lineup there also.

Yeah it's no biggie...hoping Lizzy can pull this one out....if anyone wants to get a Lizzt CD I would get "Live & Dangerous".....it has been voted the best live Rock CD ever by a few English Rock rags.

Is that ear-licking going on there?

It was definitely rare to see any ear-licking after Argybargy.

Cool finds --- fay young Glenn Tillbrook.

Other than hearing "The Boys Are Back In Town" and "Jailbreak" on the radio from time to time, I hadn't listened to Thin Lizzy in over 25 years. Had a high school buddy that listened to them all the time. I had to refamiliarize myself with their music in order to vote. Man, did that bring back some memories from long ago.

"Another Nail for My Heart" vs. "Dancing in the Moonlight (It's Caught Me in It's Spotlight)"
As soon as you click on "Dancing," you recall that Lizzy was doing the same thing Bruce was. He wasn't knocking him off, but following a similar muse. Bruce did “Rosalita” and conquered the world. Phil did “Rosalie” and died and is largely neglected. "Nail" is a typically tight and clever Difbrook composition, but it has an annoying nasal harmony. Tie.

"Take Me I'm Yours" vs. "Bad Reputation"
Lynnott drives a great bass riff, but there’s no melody to “BR” and it’s forgettable funky arena rock --- an Aerosmith album track without Tyler or even Perry. A beatable Squeeze song holds out. Squeeze.

"Tempted" vs. "Cowboy Song (Live)"
Cool guitar-sounding-like-a-wind-instrument sound from “Lizzy” but “Tempted” is as high as mountain and harder to climb. I dig shared vocals. Squeeze.

"If I Didn't Love You" vs. "The Boys are Back in Town (Live)"
Great riff trading between the guitar and bass guitar for the Lizbians hanging out at Dino’s. Thin Lizzy.

"Black Coffee in Bed" vs. "Emerald
After “Tempted,” “Coffee” is the other great single of Elvis producing Squeeze, and Squeeze wins over Spinal Tap, I mean Thin Lizzy.

"Cool For Cats" vs. "Whiskey in The Jar"
I don’t get why this is the second-most popular Lizzy song. A rock band takes a rip-roaring rollicking folk standard and they do it as mid-tempo soul number? Boo! Throw some punches at it and see if it comes back for more. That’s what the Pogues would’ve done. Actually they eventually did. (Not to say I dislike mid-tempo soul numbers. Just a questionable choice.) Squeeze wins with a Difford vocal. How ‘bout that?

"Goodbye Girl" vs. "Are You Ready?"
“Ready” chugs with all the lights-go-down-they’re-back-in-town excitement of a seventies arena rock band on the road. Lizzy had going here what Kiss thought they had going. I’ll throw this one to Lizzy.

"Pulling Mussels from the Shell" vs. "Still in Love With You"
“Mussels” is a pretty definitive Squeeze song, and it beats this slow dancer.

"Is That Love" vs. "Don't Believe a Word"
A big dumb rocker from Lizzy wins on an awesome tremolo guitar solo that has Brian May going, “How did he do that?”

"Annie Get Your Gun" vs. "Roisin Dubh (Black Rose): A Rock Legend"
The epic saga of the little black rose is Lizzy’s second descent into Spinal Tap dramatic excess here. Squeeze again.

And it's Squeeze, 6.5-3.5, but thanks for taking us through your Lizzy favorites.

The cool thing about educating peeps on bands they don't know is that those bands --- though they may get pounded initially --- may do better on subsequent matchups.
