Dear family, friends and colleagues:

I'm proud to announce the electronic publication of my short story, "Emmett, Joey & the Beelz", by the Abyss & Apex Webzine, at:

http://www.abyssandapex.com/200604-Emmett.html

Its a (hopefully) amusing noir /fantasy, in the hyper-pulp style of SIN CITY, that takes Jewish mysticism and mixes it with Mike Hammer, Faust and Frankenstein... in fact, its a foul-mouthed and violent mélange that I'm pretty sure has something to offend everybody.

Abyss & Apex is not exactly Asimov's Fantasy & SF Magazine, but they paid me actual $$ to publish it, so I guess that makes me a professional!

Also, while I've got your attention, I should let you know that the 1-act version of my play LITTLE ONE, GOODBYE, is being presented as part of the "best of" staged reading series at Tada! Theater, May 20th (7pm) & 21st (3pm).

...so its been a pretty good month for me, all in all.

A Golem with a soul.

hahn, i knew a Mets fan would like the ending.
In fact, I started with the ending and worked backwards.

Read that with lunch, I liked it. Big Al would be proud.

Congratulations! Not a bad place to be.

Is this your first sale?

Didn't mean to spoil it.
I would have thought everyone would have read the story before they got to my response.
I was so fatummult (and a bissel faklempt) after reading it, I plead temporary insanity.

Sorry if I did.

yeah, its my first sale, and my first shot at writing a short story since i dabbled with the form in college.

i've had a play thats kicked around for a while, though.

so now that i've "conquered" those 2 formats, i'm working on a screenplay and a musical.

and no sweat, `'62... if i rendered you even the slightest bit faklempt, my work here is done.

I did read the story before the response. Loved it. The story, that is. Liked the response, too.

Printed this drivel out and read it on the train home last night.

What crap! And 18 pages of it at that!

Just kidding man. I really liked it and actually gave it to a friend to read.

Great concept and if you really did start with the ending and worked backward - that makes it even better.

Congrats and thanks.

its greatly appreciated.

actually, the ending came to me along the way. I didn't really start there, i'm ashamed to admit.

Why be ashamed? Some of my best story endings came out of nowhere along the way.

JRR Tolkien said he got the Hobbits to Bree and got all scared with them because he had no idea what was going to happen to them.
