I'm heading over to Shea now, have a good IGT!

Lets go Mets, yesterday was a wreck, I watched the first two innings then went to the City to meet the GF, she tells me the Mets are up 4 zip, I'm happy, then I hear they lost I couldn't believe it, and how they lost was the killer...terrible.
KC May 21 2006 07:50 PM |
I edited the title to show who is playing for future reference.
Gwreck May 21 2006 07:53 PM |
Probably because you only edited the title and not the text of the post (??)
Gwreck May 21 2006 08:07 PM |
Blue and the pinstripes for the National TV game. Nicely done.
Zvon May 21 2006 08:11 PM |
I hope that was Damons favorite bat :\
Zvon May 21 2006 08:18 PM |
great play by Reyes.
Gwreck May 21 2006 08:29 PM |
Kaz might've been a little late getting there but that also could be part of just how the shot on TV was shown. Irrelevant with that throw anyway. Not letting teams run isn't just going to be against the MFYs but also against every team. LoDuca's not that good throwing runners out...
Zvon May 21 2006 08:35 PM |
A look and a throw over by the pitcher would be nice. Bernie hits a lead off double and Yanks use textbook baseball to move him over. Big K by Glavine negates any possibility of a tag up. YES! and another big K by Glavine ends the threat.
Zvon May 21 2006 08:44 PM |
Nice triple by Cliffy.
GYC May 21 2006 08:45 PM |
Nady is our best situational hitter.
Gwreck May 21 2006 08:47 PM |
He did throw over twice when Damon was at first. Joe Morgan alleges Glavine's pickoff move isn't that good. For once, Joe Morgan might actually be right. Wind costs Cliff the kaboom but he still hustles enough to get the triple...but is stranded.
Bret Sabermetric May 21 2006 08:52 PM |
The key word being 'enough'. A second or two lost admirin' his handiwork to see.
Zvon May 21 2006 08:54 PM |
I guess i should pay attention. I think Im still upset about the stolen bases we gave away yesterday. Glavine gets out of another potential jam. 48 pitches, 4 hits, 3 k, 1 walk thru 3.
Zvon May 21 2006 09:02 PM |
Well,.......
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 09:03 PM |
You have got to be kidding me. How can that pop up by Bernie Williams fall in the infield untouched. The damn things was up there so long that Bernie legs out a double on a ball he hit 50 feet max. That is embarassing.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 09:10 PM |
Yankees draw first blood. Captain intangible plates two on a chopper towards third. Not the easiest play, but should have been an inning ending ground out. A play I would expect to see major leaguers make the majority of the time.
Bret Sabermetric May 21 2006 09:11 PM |
2-0 Yanks on a single by Jeter off Wright's glove and Reyes' glove.
Zvon May 21 2006 09:11 PM |
shit.
Rotblatt May 21 2006 09:12 PM |
I can't believe they called that shit a single.
Gwreck May 21 2006 09:13 PM |
The pop up and the Jeter single/Wright error didn't really bother me all that much...the big problem...why wasn't Glavine challenging Kelly freakin' Stinnett?
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 09:15 PM |
A-Rod hits a rocket to left field, but Cliff makes an awkward looking catch on it to end the inning.
DocTee May 21 2006 09:16 PM |
Joe Morgan can barely contain his contempt for Kazmat--
Zvon May 21 2006 09:19 PM |
Gwreck May 21 2006 09:19 PM |
DELGADO!!!
ScarletKnight41 May 21 2006 09:20 PM |
Delgado says Fuck You MFY lead with a 3-run homer -
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 09:20 PM |
A pair of singles by LoDuc and Beltran open the inning for the Mets.
Zvon May 21 2006 09:20 PM |
damn-that was huge.
The Big O May 21 2006 09:20 PM |
I was privately snickering at Joe's use of the term "RBI man" ... thanks for shutting me up, Carlos.
ScarletKnight41 May 21 2006 09:21 PM |
Mr. Wright says I can do that -
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 09:21 PM |
Back to back homer as Wright goes deep to left.
Zvon May 21 2006 09:21 PM |
Gwreck May 21 2006 09:21 PM |
Wow, Wright's was in the parking lot!
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 09:24 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on May 21 2006 09:26 PM |
Wright's home run estimated at 445 feet and Delgados had to be close to 400 feet into the wind.
Zvon May 21 2006 09:26 PM |
wow.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 09:28 PM |
Well, that inning was fun. After 4 innings your score is Mets 4 Yankees 2.
Nymr83 May 21 2006 09:29 PM |
yay for double-kaboom
Edgy DC May 21 2006 09:31 PM |
I interrupt this IGT to bring you a Hell, Yeah! Hell, Yeah!Back to the action...

Zvon May 21 2006 09:44 PM |

Nymr83 May 21 2006 09:45 PM |
the Mets finally getting some love from an umpire?
Zvon May 21 2006 09:46 PM |
..and get into the Skanks bullpen early.
Gwreck May 21 2006 09:47 PM |
The tag definetly beat him, but maybe (?) Cano's tag just missed him. I woulda thought the Yankees would get that call. Oh well, we definetly are due some umpire payback.
Nymr83 May 21 2006 10:02 PM |
6-3 DP!
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 10:04 PM |
Glavine works out of yet another jam. Captain Intangible grounds into a inning ending double play.
Nymr83 May 21 2006 10:04 PM |
6-3 DP!
Zvon May 21 2006 10:05 PM |
a big one. Nice try by Floyd on that single. If that got by him I would have had to throw something thru the TV screen. We need a bunch more runs, cuz Willie says he'll use Wags tonight if he's needed and I really hope he isnt.
Nymr83 May 21 2006 10:05 PM |
Colter Bean??
Bret Sabermetric May 21 2006 10:08 PM |
But if you put him in with a big lead, he'll be all freaked out and won't be psychogically prepared to pitch effectively. What you want to root for is for the Yankees to score a run, so when Wags comes in he's protecting a 1-run lead and pitches well therefore.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 10:11 PM |
The Yankees should send this clown, Colter Bean, to the mound with a bucket and a sponge. Damn, does he like to lick his fingers or what. After virtually every pitch he licks his hand before getting back on the mound.
Zvon May 21 2006 10:12 PM |
I hear ya, but Id rather he not be in a position to play a part at all tonight.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 10:26 PM |
Bases loaded with Yankees with 2 outs in the seventh as Heilman appears to be catching what Wagner had yesterday.
Rotblatt May 21 2006 10:26 PM |
Heilman: "I want to be in the starting rotation. Willie says I've been too good a pitcher to put in the starting rotation. Therefore . . ."
ScarletKnight41 May 21 2006 10:27 PM |
Whew!
Willets Point May 21 2006 10:27 PM |
Oh good, we're leading. Now lets see what heartbreaking way the Mets find to lose.
Zvon May 21 2006 10:27 PM |
whew!
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 10:28 PM |
The Yankess are turned away, but not without some agita.
Nymr83 May 21 2006 10:30 PM |
would we be bashing willie if heilman hadnt gotten out of that?
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 10:30 PM |
Some insurance runs would be nice.
Nymr83 May 21 2006 10:31 PM |
this is the attitude we all need to try and lose! on edit- i'm duke snyder! another retread the mets never should have brought in...
Zvon May 21 2006 10:39 PM |
I dont see how we could.....thats Heilmans role there. And one inning was wise.
Duke was good for the gate. What?--you think he hurt the Mets chances in '63? lol. I guess you didnt like them giving Willie Mays his last tour.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 10:39 PM |
Valentin walks. Then takes second on a pitch in the dirt. The Mets need to get him in, NOW!!!
Edgy DC May 21 2006 10:44 PM |
Villone, who sounds like he should be umping, wants Delgado.
Edgy DC May 21 2006 10:44 PM |
Nope, he goes after Beltran with one pitch and gets him.
Edgy DC May 21 2006 10:49 PM |
Let's agree that's the last time the Mets ever put Cairo aboard.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 10:50 PM |
Sanchez in for the 8th inning. Promptly walks Cairo to start the inning. Now gives up a single to Damon.
Nymr83 May 21 2006 10:52 PM |
fuckin bunt, Sanchez gotta get an out there
Edgy DC May 21 2006 10:53 PM |
Wow. Two infield hits to Sanchez in a row. Boo.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 10:53 PM |
Again, i repeat myself, throw some damn strikes.

BALCO boy set up for a grand salami. I hate this.
Nymr83 May 21 2006 10:55 PM |
sac fly makes it 4-3 with 1-out.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 10:56 PM |
Slappy at the plate. Come on Duaner.
Zvon May 21 2006 10:56 PM |
Heads up by Nady keepin Damon at 2nd.

Nymr83 May 21 2006 10:57 PM |

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 10:57 PM |
6-4-3 DP to end the inning!
Gwreck May 21 2006 10:58 PM |
Thanks Slappy!
Willets Point May 21 2006 10:59 PM |
That's the way the Mets play! Getting out of jams and using superior defense to keep the lead. I knew they could do it!

Rally now... Kick out the jams motherfuckers !
Willets Point May 21 2006 11:03 PM |
Torre double-switches A-Rod out of the game. Someone explain the genius of benching your best player to keep Ericson in the game longer?
Edgy DC May 21 2006 11:05 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on May 21 2006 11:07 PM |
There are two types of Torre moves.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 11:05 PM |
I'm happy with that move. So I'm not going to complain.
Willets Point May 21 2006 11:06 PM |
And we just sit in awe!
Edgy DC May 21 2006 11:06 PM |
What's hairy and terrifying and soon to appear at Shea Stadium?
Frayed Knot May 21 2006 11:06 PM |
As the "non-clutch" label gets driven a little further into ARod's hide.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 11:08 PM |
Heaven help us, Wild-thing Wagner is warming to pitch the ninth.
Zvon May 21 2006 11:08 PM |
Looks like you called it Brett. Ya bastage. Im all for running him back out there ASAP,as i said in yesterdays IGT, but I just wish it didnt have to be tonight. If he doesnt get the job done tonight the downside is really down. And he threw alot of pitches yesterday. This is worrysome, but as a Met fan Im used to worryin. *Z crosses his fingers, his toes, his eyes,...his testicles cross themselves voluntarily. Get it done Sandman!
Edgy DC May 21 2006 11:08 PM |
The ninth inning. Go, Billy.
Gwreck May 21 2006 11:10 PM |
In fairness, Torre has a short bullpen. Rivera unavailable. Chacon unavailable, etc...
Willets Point May 21 2006 11:11 PM |
1 down.
Willets Point May 21 2006 11:12 PM |

Cano is given the treatment.

Bernie Williams drops a flair in front of a diving Nady for a single.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 11:15 PM |
Cabrera singles to left. Runners on 1st and 2nd with one out.
Willets Point May 21 2006 11:15 PM |
Clusterfuck!
Zvon May 21 2006 11:16 PM |
...and a Cebrera seeing eye single.
Gwreck May 21 2006 11:16 PM |
Stinnett? Cairo? No problem.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 11:16 PM |
K's Stinnet with a 2-2 slider. One more out, please.
Willets Point May 21 2006 11:16 PM |
2 down on strikes.
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 11:18 PM |
2-2 on Cairo, come on. Make it happen, NOW!!!
Nymr83 May 21 2006 11:18 PM |
Cairo is being a pest... fouls off 2 straight on 2-2.
Nymr83 May 21 2006 11:19 PM |
thank god for two out of three, this shoulda been a sweeeeep :/
Rockin' Doc May 21 2006 11:19 PM |
Bret calls it midway through the game.

Willets Point May 21 2006 11:19 PM |

Rotblatt May 21 2006 11:49 PM |

That'd be a good start. I think it might take us going on a serious, month-long tear, culminating in a sweep of the MFY at the Toilet at the end of June. Last night was kinda traumatic.
SteveJRogers May 21 2006 11:50 PM |
BTW, apparantly there is no longer a Mr Met Pinstripe body as usually Mr. Met is in sync with the rest of the Mets, and tonight it was the "Snow White" body and legs for the big baseball head guy
DocTee May 21 2006 11:54 PM |
Maybe his duds are at the dry cleaner (MLB 2006 reference) or under Linda Cohn's bed (ESPN reference)?
Johnny Dickshot May 21 2006 11:54 PM |
None of the games were especially scintillating.
Centerfield May 21 2006 11:56 PM |
Never a doubt.
Centerfield May 21 2006 11:58 PM |
Did you guys catch Pedro making a "big ears" gesture at Posada in the 8th? Big game, tense situation, and Pedro making fun of the ears of the opposition.
Zvon May 22 2006 12:10 AM |
Willets Point May 22 2006 12:20 AM |
Pinstripes and blue caps. Me gusta!

SteveJRogers May 22 2006 12:27 AM |
Now if we can just do away with the black trim!
Bret Sabermetric May 22 2006 04:14 AM |
Has there ever been a series victory (with the only loss a one-run loss) that left the victors as upset and angry and disaffected as this one has? The disappointment of failing to sweep is the overwhelming emotion here--You won 2 out of 3, people--why so glum?
cooby May 22 2006 06:27 AM |
I saw that and wondered what he was up to
holychicken May 22 2006 09:05 AM |
I thought he was doing that at Wagner to help him loosen up and relax . . . although, it certainly makes sense that he was making fun of posada. But why?
metirish May 22 2006 09:19 AM |
This sucks, the power went out last night just after the game started and I missed it..still I was happy to see we won....great pic in the Times..
soupcan May 22 2006 09:22 AM |
You're right. - bottom line - 2 of 3 from the Devil. Gotta take it and run.
Farmer Ted May 22 2006 09:53 AM |
Heard on the broadcast that the Mets have won eight of the last 11 meetings in this series. This series is getting boring. We need better competition.
Gwreck May 22 2006 10:29 AM |
Somebody made a mistake there. It's 8 of last 12. I think I *might* celebrate when we take the advantage in the all-time series. (Still down 21-30.
MFS62 May 22 2006 11:44 AM |
Now we know why they named it the Rolaids Award.
