Lets go Mets, yesterday was a wreck, I watched the first two innings then went to the City to meet the GF, she tells me the Mets are up 4 zip, I'm happy, then I hear they lost I couldn't believe it, and how they lost was the killer...terrible.

Unfortunately, sometimes the 'edited by' thingy doesn't show up in edited posts.

Probably because you only edited the title and not the text of the post (??)

Blue and the pinstripes for the National TV game. Nicely done.

Caught Baseball Tonight before the game. Berman is his usable insufferable self, a horse's ass as usual, but Harold Reynolds embarassing himself too. "Promoting" Mark Teixiera's defense, he says "He's gonna win a gold glove one of these days."

Uh, Harold, he did. Last year.

Zvon

I hope that was Damons favorite bat :\

Zvon
May 21 2006 08:18 PM

great play by Reyes.

Why wasnt Kaz waiting at the bag for that throw by LaDuke?
Did damon have THAT big a jump?

One thing we have to establish is that the Skanks cant be runnin whenever they want to.

Giambi Ks on a nice changeup by Glavine.
2 out-
A-Rod at the plate with Damon on 2nd.

Kaz might've been a little late getting there but that also could be part of just how the shot on TV was shown. Irrelevant with that throw anyway.

Not letting teams run isn't just going to be against the MFYs but also against every team. LoDuca's not that good throwing runners out...

A look and a throw over by the pitcher would be nice.

Bernie hits a lead off double and Yanks use textbook baseball to move him over.

Big K by Glavine negates any possibility of a tag up.

YES!
and another big K by Glavine ends the threat.

Nice triple by Cliffy.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda been a homer.
Dagnab wind.

Nady cant get him in.
Grounds out.

He did throw over twice when Damon was at first. Joe Morgan alleges Glavine's pickoff move isn't that good. For once, Joe Morgan might actually be right.

Wind costs Cliff the kaboom but he still hustles enough to get the triple...but is stranded.

Bret Sabermetric
May 21 2006 08:52 PM

The key word being 'enough'. A second or two lost admirin' his handiwork to see.

I guess i should pay attention.
I think Im still upset about the stolen bases we gave away yesterday.

Glavine gets out of another potential jam.

48 pitches, 4 hits, 3 k, 1 walk thru 3.

Zvon
May 21 2006 09:02 PM

Well,.......
letting that pop drop in was rediculous.

Bernie Williams with a lead off windblown pop up double to the infield.

Rockin' Doc
May 21 2006 09:03 PM

You have got to be kidding me. How can that pop up by Bernie Williams fall in the infield untouched. The damn things was up there so long that Bernie legs out a double on a ball he hit 50 feet max. That is embarassing.

Rockin' Doc
May 21 2006 09:10 PM

Yankees draw first blood. Captain intangible plates two on a chopper towards third. Not the easiest play, but should have been an inning ending ground out. A play I would expect to see major leaguers make the majority of the time.

Bret Sabermetric
May 21 2006 09:11 PM

2-0 Yanks on a single by Jeter off Wright's glove and Reyes' glove.

Now it's bases loaded for A-Rod.

Zvon
May 21 2006 09:11 PM

shit.
Wright lets Jeters grounder eat him up.
And Reyes dont stop it either!

2 runs score.

If i was scorin that would be 2 errors on one play there.
I think they gave him a hit and 2 ribbys.

Rotblatt
May 21 2006 09:12 PM

I can't believe they called that shit a single.

We just keep giving it away.

Disgraceful.

Small's got shit too--he's NOT a good pitcher. We should be crushing him and we've only got one hit.

Gwreck
May 21 2006 09:13 PM

The pop up and the Jeter single/Wright error didn't really bother me all that much...the big problem...why wasn't Glavine challenging Kelly freakin' Stinnett?

1 out, pitcher due up next, you do NOT walk Stinnett, you throw strikes.

Rockin' Doc
May 21 2006 09:15 PM

A-Rod hits a rocket to left field, but Cliff makes an awkward looking catch on it to end the inning.

Some pretty suspect defensive play really hurt the Mets in that inning.

Yankees lead 2-0 heading to the bottom of the 4th.

Due up for the Mets:
LoDuca
Beltran
Delgado
and hopefully Wright et al

DocTee
May 21 2006 09:16 PM

Joe Morgan can barely contain his contempt for Kazmat--

whether it's referring to yesterday's failed DP ("Reyes did everything perfectly and I thought they'd get two") or his analysis of that pop double ("LoDuca came down the line but that's a play someone in the IF has to make")

Maybe we should invite him to the CPF??

The Yankees should send this clown, Colter Bean, to the mound with a bucket and a sponge. Damn, does he like to lick his fingers or what. After virtually every pitch he licks his hand before getting back on the mound.

And i guess that i could
Get crazy now baby
Cause we all got in tune
And when the dressing room
Got hazy now baby

I know how you want it child
Hot, quick and tight
The girls can't stand it
When you're doin'it right
Let me up on the stand
And let me kick out the jams
Yes, kick out the jams

I want to kick'em out !

Yes i'm starting to sweat
You know my shirt's all wet
What a feeling!
In the sound that abounds
And resounds and rebounds
Off the ceiling!

You gotta have it baby
You can't do without
When you get that feeling
You gotta sock'em out
Put that mike in my hand
And let me kick out the jams
Yes ! Kick out the jams
I want to kick'em out!

( guitar )

So you got to give it up
You know you can't get enough
Miss Mackenzie
Cause it gets in your brain
It drives you insane
With the frenzy

The wigglin guitars girl
The crash of the drums
Make you wanna keep-a-rockin'
Till the morning comes

Let me be who i am
And let me kick out the jam
Yes, kick out the jams
I done kicked em out !!!

- Yanks had all those baserunners but rarely came close to hitting a ball hard.
- 12 hits in all, 3 of which never left the infield. 10 were singles and one of them should have been an error. Plus even one of the 2 doubles never left the infield
- 7 friggin walks, which really sukked because we kept walking all their shitty and replacement hitters: Bernie twice, Melky 1, Stinnett 1, Cairo 1, plus ARod & Giambi once each
- and then we hit two guys, including Kevin Freekin Reese
- 3 GiDPs bailed our asses out

That'd be a good start.

I think it might take us going on a serious, month-long tear, culminating in a sweep of the MFY at the Toilet at the end of June.

Last night was kinda traumatic.

BTW, apparantly there is no longer a Mr Met Pinstripe body as usually Mr. Met is in sync with the rest of the Mets, and tonight it was the "Snow White" body and legs for the big baseball head guy

Maybe his duds are at the dry cleaner (MLB 2006 reference) or under Linda Cohn's bed (ESPN reference)?

None of the games were especially scintillating.

Did you guys catch Pedro making a "big ears" gesture at Posada in the 8th? Big game, tense situation, and Pedro making fun of the ears of the opposition.

I love Pedro.

Now if we can just do away with the black trim!

"Mets In Black" song parody aside, the Black as a marketing gimmick has gone on WAYYYYYYY too long

Has there ever been a series victory (with the only loss a one-run loss) that left the victors as upset and angry and disaffected as this one has? The disappointment of failing to sweep is the overwhelming emotion here--You won 2 out of 3, people--why so glum?

I thought he was doing that at Wagner to help him loosen up and relax . . . although, it certainly makes sense that he was making fun of posada. But why?

You're right. - bottom line - 2 of 3 from the Devil. Gotta take it and run.

Heard on the broadcast that the Mets have won eight of the last 11 meetings in this series. This series is getting boring. We need better competition.

Somebody made a mistake there. It's 8 of last 12.

I think I *might* celebrate when we take the advantage in the all-time series. (Still down 21-30.

Now we know why they named it the Rolaids Award.
