Lets go Mets......Pedro likes to pitch in Miami right?
Seven rookies in the Marlin lineup, Pedro could have fun with this.

Valentin's versatility continues to come in handy.

Which is not to say that he would have deserved to keep a spot on the roster had his hitting not turned around, but having a guy who can play several OF & IF positions while switch-hitting w/enough power potential to at least put a scare into the opposing manager is rarer than some fans apparently think judging by their almost immediate calls for his release by early April.

Reyes walks...it sounds on the radio like the place is packed with Mets fans!

May 26 2006 07:53 PM

In their own home the Marlins fans just tried to get a lets go marlins chant going... they were drowned out by met fans booing them!!

we own this stadium and hopefully we will own this team too.

Pedro made a big leaguer out of Jacobs last year.

He just made him look like a Little Leaguer.

Strange looking catch by Nady to end the inning.

Edgy DC

Strange catch by Nady.

cooby
May 26 2006 08:02 PM

Two people describe a catch as strange and dont describe the catch? Come on, how about a little more detail of this strange catch

Edgy DC
May 26 2006 08:06 PM
Edited 1 time(s), most recently on May 26 2006 08:09 PM

He stood with his left hip facing the infield --- even though he seemingly had time to square himself --- and reached down and backhanded it at shin level.

I'll let Edgy describe the strange catch, Pedro is in a groove tonight. this Johnson kid can pitch too.

Johnny Dickshot
May 26 2006 08:11 PM

Pedro just destroyed those first two batters last inning.

Gwreck
May 26 2006 08:18 PM

Pedro has given up a homer in all but 2 of his starts this year, 9 HR total now given up this year. Ouch.

I blame Chris Cotter .

OOTS Update:

Braves beat Cubs in the 9th on a throwing error. Carlos Zambrano took a no-hitter into the 7th.

Brewers 4, Phillies 3 top 6th.

Royals, who've lost 13 in a row, are up 3-1 over the MFYs, bottom 6.

Tampa 1, Boston 0, bottom 4. Kazmir vs. David Wells (back from DL)

Edgy DC
May 26 2006 08:54 PM

Derek Jeter's got his 2, 000th career hit, and he got it like the winner he is... in a losing effort to the Royals.

Edgy DC
May 26 2006 08:55 PM

Josh Johnson needs a wakeup call.

Gwreck
May 26 2006 08:57 PM

Don't jinx it, dammit! The MFYs just took the lead.

Meanwhile both Pedro and Johnson have retired 9 in a row.

Gwreck
May 26 2006 09:02 PM

12 in a row for Pedro. 9 Ks now.

Johnson's up to 92 pitches, maybe he's getting tired. Big bats coming up, time to break this tie.

Edgy DC
May 26 2006 09:02 PM

Pedro whiffin' Fish.

Gwreck
May 26 2006 09:17 PM

They may not lead the league in wins, but I'm pretty sure the Marlins lead the league in crooked-hat mugshots:

Dontrelle:

Hanley Ramirez:

Jacobs:

Cabrera:

Randy Messenger:

Good job by Pedro minimizing damage after the 3 singles to start the 7th but we need HITS and RUNS. Rally!

Time has come today!
Young hearts can go their way!
Can't put it off another day!
And I don't care what the others say!
'Cause they say we don't listen anyway!
Time has come today!
Hey!

The rules have changed today
Hey!
I have no place to stay!
Hey!
And I'm thinkin' about the subway"
Hey!
Love has gone away!
Hey!
And tears have come and gone!
Hey!
Oh my God, I have to run!
Hey!
I have no home!
Hey!
I have no home!
Hey!

Now the time has come!
Time!
There's no place to run!
Time!
Might get burned up by the sun!
Time!
Well, I've had my fun!
Time!
Well, I've been loved and put aside!
Time!
And I've been crushed by tumblin' tide!
Time!
And my soul's be psychedelicized!
Time!

Now the time has come!
Time!
There are things to realize!
Time!
Time has come today!
Time!
Time has come today!
Time!

Time!

Now the time has come!
Time!
There are things to realize!
Time!
Time has come today!
Time!
Time has come today!
Time!

Time!

Now the time has come!
Time!
Time has come today!
Time!
Time has come today!
Yeah!

Jeez Kaz, even I wouldn't swing at that.

Edgy DC
May 26 2006 09:32 PM

I've got to format my rally songs faster.

Kaz is having the type of night that could make a fella's manager run out of patience.

Nothing has been more depressing this season than the results of Pedro's last 5 starts:

6 IP, 1 ER, 9 K -- ND (Mets win)
7 IP, 3 ER, 10 K -- ND (Mets lose)
7 IP, 4 ER, 10 K -- ND (Mets lose)
7 IP, 0 ER, 8 K -- ND (Mets lose)
7 IP, 2 ER, 10 K -- ND or L (not looking good)

with any luck he'd be 10-0.

Fielder pulled off the bag ... hit bouncing off second base ... pitcher neglecting to pick up the ball ... what odd quirk of futility will happen next?

The word is spreading among major league managers: start your rookie pitchers against the Mets!

The Mets have once again come out flat against a rookie pitcher. Their professional scouting staff should be addressed.

So address them! Their names are:

VICE PRESIDENT, PROFESSIONAL SCOUTING

Gary LaRouque

ASSISTANT, PROFESSIONAL SCOUTING

Anne Fairbanks

ADVANCE SCOUT

Bruce Benedict, Embedded Brave

PROFESSIONAL SCOUTS

Russ Bove
Howie Freiling
Jerry Krause
Bryan Lambe
Bob Minor
Harry Minor
Scott Nethery
Joe Nigro
Roland Johnson

Oh I think Harry tripped A LOT walking up stairs, down stairs, and on flat ground. He was known to drink his dinner more than occasionally.

]Braves beat Cubs in the 9th on a throwing error. Carlos Zambrano took a no-hitter into the 7th.

And speaking of Harry's old team ... man they suck!
Not only did they lose after taking a no-no into the 7th, but they let 2 runs in on bases-loaded walks, and then 2 more (the winning runs in fact) on a single Sac Fly!!

Meanwhile ... we suck too - that was Fugly!!!!

Your rally song was one of my favs and the best Edge.

They just dont always work, and thats what makes em special.
I bet that one can work at a time when the time really needs to come today.

Sadly, this game was another wasted Pedro outting. He wasnt great, but comon--all those Ks and only afew runs. He was.
The boys have to step up and hit and make it so.

What happened to Beltrans Pedro homers?
At least we useta be able to count on those.

But i tip my hat to Johnson.
