Memories of Jorge Julio

Jorge, we hardly knew ya.

I didn't like you much in the beginning, but you started doing better. Still, I never had a great deal of confidence in you.

My last clear memory of you is losing Saturday's game to the MFY's (even though Wagner is the one who really lost that one).

My memory of him is wondering why everybody called him by his first name, until I realized it is his last name

Hearing the trade rumor that we were going to trade Benson for him and thinking "Who?", then looking him up, realizing he sucked and thinking, "Well, I don't see that trade happening."

It was fun listening to Ron Darling salivate over the kind of natural ability he has.

Julio has awesome stuff. He just needs to better harness it. I wish him well, except when facing the Mets.

Having seen him, it's hard to not see why peeps are tempted to look beyond the stats when they look to acquire him.

my memory of him is as an oriole giving up a bomb to the yankees...
as a met i remember bashing him when we got him and then saying "i told you so" after his first start.
don't be fooled by his passable pitching lately...this is just an example of Omar wisely "selling high"

After getting rocked in Camden Yards, and starting get things right in Shea...he's gotta be a little bit nervous moving to the BOB (or whatever it's called this sponsorship season)...

nasty stuff- potential.

A MLB pitcher must be able to hold runners on their bases.
Or,.....at least give the impression of holding them on, anyway.

In two of the no-doubt crucial games of 2006, the Friday night 14-inning win over the Braves and the next afternoon's gut check when Zambrano went down, Jorge Julio got a win (everybody had been used) and a save (nobody else was available). Maybe he did give up some long bombs very early and maybe he was going to do so again real soon. But he was an important piece of the team when the team needed him.

I'll remember him that way.

Yup.

We used to be dying for a relief pitcher with that kinda K-rate.
