Well that was much better than yesterday's heartbreaking loss. The Mets pitchers were living dangerously for most of the game. They collectively wriggled out of the jams they got themselves into frequently enough for the Mets to earn the victory.

After the Yankees scored 2 runs with the help of some shoddy defense by the Mets in the top of the fourth inning, the Mets came roaring back. LoDuca and Beltran opened the bottom of the fourth inning with singles. They set the stage for the Delgado's three run home run on a high fastball from the Yankees starter, Aaron Smalls. David Wright followed that with a mammoth blast to deep left field.

Glavine and a succession of relievers (Heilman, Sanchez, and Wagner) struggled at times, but ultimately succeeded at making the lead hold up. Though not without more excitement than most Mets fans desired in the wake of last night's collapse.

Tonight we celebrate with a beer from the home of baseball, Cooperstown, NY. So savor winning two of three from the Yankees while enjoying an ice cold mug of Ommegang Belgian Abbey Ale.

Might as well bump this one to the top as well. That way the entire Yankee series is together for voter consideration.
