The Mets continued their winning ways on this homestand. Alain Soler made his major league debut for the Mets. After a shaky start, Soler settled down and provided 6 innings that greatly exceeded anything they ever got from Lima or Gonzalez. His start offers hope for the back end of the Mets rotation.

Carlos Beltran and David Wright both continued to swing red hot bats. They both went deep again. Since the start of this homestand, The duo has combined for 18 hits in 49 at bats. They have hit 6 home runs and driven in 13 runs. That's a nice five game stretch. Hopefully, the dynamic duo will continue their hot streaks for a while longer.

It's hard to believe that it wasn't too very long ago that people were arguing over the appropriateness of booing Beltran. It doesn't appear that he has to be too concerned with being booed by the home town fans at Shea again any time soon.

Well, the Brooklyn Breweries offerings went over so well after last nights win, we might as well go with them again. It's still early in the season, but the Mets pennant hopes are looking brighter than they were this time last week. Tonight's player of the game gets the first bottle of Brooklyn Pennant Ale 55.

I have to go with Mr. Wright - he was a sparkplug all night.

I voted for Wright.

I believe Soler's line should read 3 runs, 2 earned.

You are correct TransMonk. I inadvertently posted Soler's numbers incorrectly. First Soler loses his shot at a victory and now I probably screwed him out of a few beers. He has to be thinking his major league debut hasn't worked out quite the way he had hoped. Welcome to the big leagues.

The correct line for Soler: 6 IP, 5 hits allowed, 3 Runs, 2 Eaned Runs, 5 K's, and 4 Walks

Sorry for the screw up. Unfortunately, polls can not be edited.
