(GWreck got to the lineups before I could)

Gwreck
May 27 2006 01:06 PM

Sorry, didn't mean to show you up....I was literally in the process of starting the IGT with lineups when I saw you had just done it...

Gwreck
May 27 2006 01:08 PM

I guess these guys have gotta rest everyone once in a while. Only side benefit is that we have a great set of pinch hitters if need be (Floyd, Delgado, Lo Duca).

Zvon
May 27 2006 01:22 PM

I always thought if i was a manager id want my A lineup out there for weekend games(esp home games), but playing fantasy baseball has taught me other wise.

Zvon
May 27 2006 01:39 PM

Nice uneventful first.
Glavine looks like he's got his stuff.
Is that Pinella in the Fox booth? He's awful.

Zvon
May 27 2006 01:41 PM

David Wright whips a line single the other way to lead off the 2nd.

Zvon
May 27 2006 01:45 PM

Mr. Franco with a smack single on the tail end of a hit and run.

1st and 3rd- 1 out- Castro.

ScarletKnight41
May 27 2006 01:46 PM

Who the heck is announcing this game?

Who was the genius who said that Castro was the Mets' number 1 catcher last year until he was replaced by LoDuca?

Zvon
May 27 2006 01:47 PM

May as well swing the bats boys, cuz the umps are callin anything close.
Castro looks at strike 3.

Its up to Kaz.

ScarletKnight41
May 27 2006 01:48 PM

The same genius says that KazMat reminds him of Ichiro at the bat.

Yea- thats him,lol.
He sounds like I feel right now.
All hungover.

Zvon
May 27 2006 01:56 PM

Glavine makes Jacobs stick his butt out reachin and he's got another 1-2-3 inning.

Zvon
May 27 2006 02:01 PM

Lou thinks Ricky Henderson is managing the Mets.

Yikes.

Weight's double scores woodward, dumb groundrule keeps beltran at 3rd.

I thought so also.

And I never imagined Lou to be a moron until today.

ScarletKnight41
May 27 2006 02:14 PM

Glavine strikes out the side in the third.

He's pitching well. Very well.

Zvon
May 27 2006 02:14 PM

Damn--Glavine looks effortlessly awsum out there.

Ks the side, including that excellent hitter, Willis.

SC= im not sure.

Kaboom! Castro!

ScarletKnight41

Castro!

Gwreck
May 27 2006 02:18 PM

Nice, Ramon.

Zvon
May 27 2006 02:19 PM

Doesnt Wright look like one of Pythons twits of the week in my kaboom?

Gwreck
May 27 2006 02:26 PM

Another 1-2-3 for Glavine. Looks fantastic today, helped only perhaps by a slightly generous strike zone.

Zvon
May 27 2006 02:31 PM

ugh--nice catch by Jacobs wastes Beltrans double.

Edgy DC
May 27 2006 02:33 PM

Fox is blacking out MLB.tv, but showing me the Nats/Dodgers.

Boo.

May 27 2006 02:35 PM

Don't feel bad, for some reason I can't watch the Mets or Yankees on ESPN this year.

Johnny Dickshot
May 27 2006 02:36 PM

Shhh...

A Boy Named Seo
May 27 2006 02:36 PM

I've got the same thing, Edgy. Not happy.

Willets Point
May 27 2006 02:36 PM

Yeah these MLB.TV blackouts are a pisser. It's not like I can flip on my non-existent tv and watch the game otherwise. Or go to the local bar with the hope of seeing anything but a Boston sporting event.

Johnny Dickshot
May 27 2006 02:36 PM

I'm not going to describe what you're not seeing.

Willets Point
May 27 2006 02:37 PM

Howie Rose doesn't understand superstition.

Zvon
May 27 2006 02:37 PM

Glavine does it again-*yawn*
1-2-3.
15 up, 15 down.

Willets Point

Nor does Zvon.

Another nice play by Jacobs.

I paid extra $$ for MLB radio to cover me when MLB.tv fails me.

It's nice to know Julio Franco has a glove.

Ramon Castro is the secret weapon against Willis.

SteveJRogers

Dopey ESPN Radio Sports Center announcer just said it in a different way, but not the way you want it to be done! GEEZ!

Zvon
May 27 2006 02:44 PM

mmmmmm--id rather not see Galvine running the bases.

He draws the walk.

Zvon
May 27 2006 02:46 PM

Pinella says he thinks Willis will stay in the game even tho he's up to 100 pitches, cuz theres no one up in the Met bullpen!

Edgy DC
May 27 2006 02:48 PM

If you've got to rush a throw to get Reyes... you're already too late.

SteveJRogers
May 27 2006 02:48 PM

Remebered Wally Mathews once actually rooted FOR something to happen rather than somthing like this to to happen to an ex-Brave!

Then again I don't think Mathews (or anyone who works or worked for 1050 ESPN Radio) likes Mr. Glavine that much. for whatever reason

Zvon
May 27 2006 02:49 PM

Willis errant throw allows for another run, and also allows Glavine to simply jog over to 3rd.

I like.

SteveJRogers
May 27 2006 02:50 PM

Mathews, who once considered himself a Met fan actually was laughing uncontrollably each time the Cubs scored a run against Glavine in Tommy's first game as a Met!

SteveJRogers
May 27 2006 02:52 PM

Honestly though, would you want the first one of "those things" be done by an ex-Brave, (When Glavine goes into the Hall it will be with an Brave cap on, and dollars to doughnuts 47 gets itself retired down in Atlanta) or God forbid an ex-MFY?

Zvon
May 27 2006 02:53 PM

Yea-
Blame me-blame the bases-blame the heat.

Willets Point

I'm thinking of holding that double over you head.

Honestly, we're all former something-or-other. Let Braves fans gnash their teeth if a longtime Brave gives us his best.

Thanks for the ride there for a few innings, Tom.

Good point, eh, just wanted to garner some opinions thats all. Probably put a poll up.

I mean MFY Fans didn't feel any disgust that Gooden got a no-hitter as a Yankee or that Roger Clemens started the final game of the 1999 World Series

="Edgy DC"]It's nice to know Julio Franco has a glove.

They had to get him a new one; this is the one he brought to spring training this year:

Zvon
May 27 2006 03:09 PM

UGH what a catch by Abercrombie....
or as Pinella calls him, Abercrombuhgh

Zvon
May 27 2006 03:12 PM

Mr Franco does it again!

Zvon
May 27 2006 03:16 PM

Glavine only has tossed 77 pitches.

Zvon
May 27 2006 03:18 PM

Wright lets another ball eat him up.
Well, that was a shot.

Willets Point
May 27 2006 03:23 PM

Why does Rose keep talking about Glavine making it to the 6th inning every game as if its a great accomplishment? Are the standards so low that its ok if the bullpen only needs to be taxed for 3 innings each start instead of 4-5? Personally I wouldn't start bragging about durability unless a starter is consistently going 7+ innings with multiple complete games.

Zvon
May 27 2006 03:25 PM

Zvon

Kaz legs one out to lead off the 8th.
Infield single.

Just move him over Tom.

seawolf17
May 27 2006 03:29 PM

I like this Glavine kid. Gonna be a helluva pitcher someday.

Zvon
May 27 2006 03:31 PM

Would Pinella, as a manager, REALLY pull a hit and run here, on a hot day like this with his 40 yr old starting pitcher into the 8th inning?
He says he would consider it- eyeeeeeeeecurumba.

Glavine bunts Kaz over.

Damn---Matsui had him on the butt, but he still should have stayed with that tag.

Edgy DC
May 27 2006 04:05 PM

Everybody hits today except Nady and Manny Acta.

I think the thing Rose is on about with going six is that it means he hasn't had a drubbing, not that six=good, but a big part of pitching is avoiding badness.

I'd like to hear where Glavine's "streak" stands among the longest in Met history. Get some context, as such.

Frayed Knot
May 27 2006 04:11 PM

First Reyes GiDP of the year - and it keeps us from seeing Petit in from the pen.

This game really hit a wall round about the 6th inning. The first 5 were done in barely an hour. The last 4 have taken nearly two.

Willets Point
May 27 2006 04:11 PM

I think my problem is:

If he's saying Glavine greatly improved in this area over previous seasons with the Mets, well, yes I agree.

If he's saying Glavine ain't doing bad for an old guy, ok I can buy that.

But

It really sounded to me as if he was proclaiming this as a standard of excellence for starting pitchers, then I think the standards are far too low.

Frayed Knot
May 27 2006 04:18 PM

This game has become much tougher than it ought to be.
Put an end to it please.

Willets Point
May 27 2006 04:23 PM

The Braves beat the Cubs. I just noticed their in 2nd place now as well. The Phillies are a tough opponent but somehow I like having them as a buffer between the Mets and Braves all the same.

Frayed Knot
May 27 2006 04:24 PM
