Having both Milledge and Soler to check out is very exciting!

metirish
May 30 2006 07:24 PM

2 zip Snakes, I blame Milledge.

KC
May 30 2006 07:26 PM

2B ump (I'm not gonna butcher his last name) needs to see the replay of
that twenty times as penance for that out call on the attempted steal and
give us one back tonight or tomorrow.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 07:27 PM

Soler is getting squeezed too.

Zvon
May 30 2006 07:27 PM

Another tuff 1st inning for Soler.

2 walks
2 runs
a WP
Some deep outs.
Over 30 pitches.

Might be gettin squeezed a lil and that call at second didnt help, but Soler aint helpin himself either.

OlerudOwned
May 30 2006 07:28 PM

Bah. 2 runs and a lot of pitches in the 1st. Soler needs to find the strike zone.

Get 'em back, boys.

Zvon
May 30 2006 07:30 PM

Reyes with the lead off bunt single--ya gotta like that :)

Zvon
May 30 2006 07:32 PM

Get into scoring position for the Carloses Jose.

Zvon
May 30 2006 07:35 PM

Thank you Mr Reyes.
20th stolen base.

And Beltran draws the walk.

Would be nice if Delgado snapped out of his funk here.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 07:39 PM

Nothing doing as Wright lines out deep.

Zvon
May 30 2006 07:39 PM

He dont.
And Wright almost gets a hold a one, but, he dont.

Lets hope Soler settles down cuz you have to figure we are gonna score 2 runs.

He didn't.

Delgado forces Beltran at second. Wright flies to right center to end the inning.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 07:43 PM

Our new 2nd baseman butterfingers it to give Soler more to deal with.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 07:46 PM

Nice inning for the big right hander.

metirish
May 30 2006 07:47 PM

keith thinks Soler is a perfectionist, says he needs to tone it down a bit...good advice I think.

Sounds OK, but it is only his second big league start, you'd expect him to amped.

Cliff gets it going!

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 07:52 PM

Our new big stick 2nd baseman puts two on for the rook!

metirish
May 30 2006 07:53 PM

Milledge had a fine AB, hit a rocket to 2nd, Floyd scores...2 to 1 Snakes.

holychicken
May 30 2006 07:54 PM

Yeah, too bad that didn't find a hole.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 07:55 PM

The kid almost knocks Counsell on his ass. Soler's bunt results in an error and a run, but Jose GiDP to end the threat.

Gwreck
May 30 2006 07:55 PM

I believe Alay Soler got his first major league hit on that scoring decision.

Zvon

Hillbilly wrote:

lol.

He hit it hard, but no cigar.
Good thing no DP.

Batista and Tracy screw up and we get a run.
And Reyes hits --a DP!? Awwwww

Damn- last thing iI would have expected.

We get one back.
1-2

...and they quite correclty took it away.

Sacrifice Bunt, advancing Valentin.
Fielder's Choice, allowing Soler to reach by trying for Floyd at third.
Throwing Error on Tracy, allowing Valentin to 3rd and Floyd to score.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 08:04 PM

Nice! Soler gets out of it after the defense does all it can to give it away. 2,3 &4 due up for the good guys.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 08:07 PM

Beltran is good. Boooooooo!

The in-game box at Yahoo.com is still showing Soler with a hit.

Edit: They just changed it.

Later

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 08:11 PM

Delgado and Wright fail to bring 'em home again. Lets keep it close Soler.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 08:21 PM

3 to 1 is still close. Cliff with lead off double.

Zvon
May 30 2006 08:23 PM

Come on Lastings--be big-

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 08:29 PM

Nice at bat by Soler. He seems to be able to handle the bat.

Zvon
May 30 2006 08:30 PM

We left a guy on 3rd base in the first, a guy on 3rd base in the second, a guy on 3rd base in the third, and a guy on 2nd base in the fourth. And the last was a lead off double.

Not good.

Zvon
May 30 2006 08:32 PM

UGH.

Burns burns us again.

Gary Cohen tells us:

May 6, 1983: Darryl Strawberry, age 21 years, 55 days, makes his big league debut.

Today, Lastings Milledge is 21 years and 55 days old.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 08:34 PM

I think Eric Byrnes should be made to feel quite uncomfortable with a high and tight fastball during his next AB.

ScarletKnight41

Eric Byrnes sure likes hitting at Shea :(

Gwreck
May 30 2006 08:37 PM

Noooooooooooooo. This is not good.

Zvon
May 30 2006 08:37 PM

UGH.UGH.UGH.

So does Conner Jackson.
A freakin 3 run blast.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 08:37 PM

Yuk 7-1. Soler has lost it.

Zvon
May 30 2006 08:39 PM

I guess Willie will keep Soler out there until he's totally out of confidence.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 08:41 PM

Or trying to build it up. I'm not quite sure what he's doing??

What's with the booing meatheads? God that's really getting out of hand at Shea.

Well, he got out of it with no further damage.

Gwreck
May 30 2006 08:45 PM

5 IP, 7 ER, 8 H, 1 K, 3 BB, 2 WP is a pretty ugly line.

Really - its times like this you should feel for your new young pitcher.
Assholes.

Zvon
May 30 2006 08:51 PM

It dont help that the Mets just dont seem on the ball tonight.

Willie brings in Oliver to start this inning.

Willets Point
May 30 2006 08:56 PM

Breakin'!

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 08:57 PM

Oliver gets that pain in the ass Byrnes out.

Zvon
May 30 2006 08:57 PM

Nice inning by Oliver.

Okay--we can come back.
But we gotta start it now.

Load those bases for Milledge!

Zvon
May 30 2006 09:04 PM

We leave another lead off double at second.

Have i said UGH recently?

Gwreck
May 30 2006 09:05 PM

2 leadoff doubles -- neither run scores.
2 more runners at 2nd with 1 out (Double, Reyes single/steal) and they don't score either.

Against Brandon Webb...ok, whatever.
Against Miguel Batista? Not cool.

Zvon
May 30 2006 09:07 PM

........., and now Im Mike Stanton.
This has just been a horrible night.

Zvon
May 30 2006 09:09 PM

HEY!--now Im Josias Manzanillo.
That went quick.
Things are lookin up already :)

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 09:10 PM

Ok make some noise now or early night for me.

Zvon
May 30 2006 09:11 PM

Well, it would be nice if Mr Milledge gave us a lil something to be happy about......anything.
A walk even.

From his 1st major league at bat:

ScarletKnight41
May 30 2006 09:14 PM

MK points out that Milledge got his first Major League hit much quicker than Anderson Hernandez did.

Hillbilly
May 30 2006 09:17 PM

Milledge gets his first ML hit, but his lead-off double is wasted like the rest tonight.

Soler will get em next time!

Zvon

One a those games-- so far everything is going Arizonas way.
Nice catch off Wright.

You must really hate Mike Stanton to prefer being a guy who lost a testicle to a line drive. ouch

ScarletKnight41
May 30 2006 09:42 PM

Valentin's solo homer makes it 7-2 Arizona.

Edgy DC
May 30 2006 09:42 PM

That's it, Jose. Let's chase this chump. Retain some dignity.

Zvon

ScarletKnight41
May 30 2006 09:46 PM

A lot!

Zvon

"MK points out that Milledge got his first Major League hit much quicker than Anderson Hernandez did."

Not only that but I believe LM's one hit traveled further than AH's 6 or 7 ML hits did put together.

Also:

- Those first inning runs should be unearned and charged to the account of 2nd base ump Bruce Froemming

- Eric Byrnes eats worms
