Good job by Valentin stayin' with the tag also.

Nice throw out by Chavez.

Vizquel out by a mile tryin to stretch a hit into two.

Floyd woulda had him.

Giants nuthin-

Zvon
Jun 04 2006 01:31 PM

Just a note-
On that groundout by Beltran- you see him slow down the last few steps?
A player like Chase Utley would have turned it on those last few.
Chavez wouldve---probly even Wright.

I dont understand why a player would ever slow down before a putout is made. Only a pitcher should be able to get away with that.

Zvon
Jun 04 2006 01:33 PM

Delgado takes charge of the infield and the Giants go down 1-2-3 in the 2nd.

Carlos Dee leads off the 2nd.

Beltran is unshaven today. Makes him look more like a man and less like a baby.

Zvon
Jun 04 2006 02:30 PM

Bloop single by Finley that cost him a bat.
Nice K by Trax hittin the corner with a beaut of a curve.
Single by Frandsen puts runners at the corners.

And then Alfonzo grounds into a 5-4-3 DP with a great pivot and throw by Valentin.

Zvon
Jun 04 2006 02:35 PM

Fine infield work by the Giants set the Mets down 1-2-3.

Trax has been pitching very economically, pitch wise as well as time wise.

Zvon
Jun 04 2006 02:41 PM

3 straight singles by the Giants tie it up.

1st and 2nd,1 out, Bonds at the plate.

Zvon
Jun 04 2006 02:44 PM

He was pitchin Bonds well, but tries to come inside and hits Bonds in the armor.
Bases loaded. One out.
Bradford up in the pen.

Zvon

Zvon
Jun 04 2006 03:05 PM

Delado lead off double.
Wright draws the walk.
After two Ks by Morris , Milledge drives in two with a double to left center.

Trax bats for himself.

Mets up 3-1 and it looks like Trax will stay in.

Come on peeps. I can read double, walk, K, K, 2-run double in about eighteen different spots on the internet, and it will be archived forever in other spots too.

Sorry to pick on you Zvon. Everyone does that, including me.

________________________

Delgado's double one hopped the wall.

Milledge's was a sharp line drive between left and center. Bonds cut it off in fairly deep left-center, but then stumbled a couple of steps before throwing it in. The relay from Vizquel was fairly close but Wright beat it pretty easily.

Nady walking around in the dugout.

I was so not expecting that hit out of Milledge. It was an outside curve that had a little break to it.

Elster88
Jun 04 2006 03:24 PM

Uh-oh. With first and second, no out, Reyes makes an awful flip on a double play ball to second, looks like he never had control with his throwing hand. Everyone is safe.

And Bonds is up with the bases juiced.

Bonds up with bases loaded-0 out.

I blame Jose. That's how Sanchez operates....double play balls. And our middle infield has been very good this year. Just didn't get it done this time. Probably escape with no runs scored if the double play is turned.

Sanchez gets some blame in my book, but not a lot.

I do not blame Willie.

I guess I'm wrong, but I think that's like the first run the Mets have scored off of Benitez in... ever.

I distinctly remember attending an eerily similar game during Benitez' first year with the Marlins. Might've been his first trip back to Shea. The Marlins got the insurance run in the top of the 9th. Piazza took Benitez deep but we were still 1 run short and lost.

OE: Some very useful "Mets Database" type site tells me it was June 5, 2004.

Great inning by Feliciano.

Top of the order for the Mets :)

Watch this on the replay if you get a chance... Lastings heads out to his position after the homer high-fiviing his way down the right-field line. (Cue Bob Raisman or whatever his name is.) He gets to a 10-year-old in a Yankee top and hat and spurns him.

It wasn't intentional certainly, but funny.

ROFL - OK, I'm on the Milledge bandwagon now :)

The Giants are down to Jeremy Accardo in the pen. The Mets have Oliver and Bell.

Mets have Castro, Matsui, and Woodward on the bench.

Gigantes no tienen nadie.

Gary says that Accardo is being groomed to be the closer. In the KTE I said he should be the colser.

Highlight of the game (well, there were many but...)

Lowlight of the game-
Reyes with the error on a crucial routine double play grounder.

sharpie
Jun 04 2006 07:21 PM

Went to the game today. Lenny and teammates went out on the warning track for a ceremony prior to the game.

I now have a 6-game losing streak at Shea: 2 this year, 3 last year, the final game in '04. I suck. The game, however, was a lotta fun.

One other thing: Reyes led off an inning 6 times (Trachsel made 3 final outs, Franco and Floyd each made one pinchhitting). Is that some kind of record I wonder?

The soupcans were at this game as well - apologies to all in attendance for consuming all the cotton candy in the stadium.
