Mets' Entrance Music

I've always wanted to come up with a definitive list, but it's not always easy. Knowing all the music fans here, I'm hopeful we can get something compiled.

Page 3 flogged this somewhat a couple of years ago. Here's ESPN's portal with multiple angles:

I don't know if "flogged" is exactly the right way to describe it. Woefully incomplete perhaps. Regardless, very few of those players are even with the club anymore...perhaps only Kaz is even using the same song (??)

Sorry, I meant with respect to the whole "music & sports" coverage package. There are a lot of players missing on each team.
|
martin Jun 01 2006 03:28 AM |
tom glavine often comes out to bat to a little pan flute part of a lil' jon song, from "what you gonna do". and this is a pretty hardcore gangsta song, so i guess either tom is a straight up playa, or his teammates chose it for him, or maybe that part of the song is sampled from somewhere else and i didnt realize it.

I've noticed that, and wondered--is he a disco guy?
|
Willets Point Jun 01 2006 09:40 AM |

He's from Brooklyn just like John Travolta's character in Saturday Night Fever. Maybe he struts too.
|
metirish Jun 01 2006 09:51 AM |
I'd be embarrassed to strut to the plate with that music playing, and it doesn't seem to fit LoDuca's hot temper, I thought he'd be more an Anthrax or Type O Negative kinda guy.
|
Edgy DC Jun 01 2006 10:08 AM |
Somebody hit Lo Duca in the hair and see how he responds.
|
Johnny Dickshot Jun 01 2006 10:13 AM |
I think it's great. It shows he has a sense of humor.

There is nothing wrong with that music. The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack is, I believe, one of the best selling soundtrack albums of all-time. I know that sales don't necessarily translate to good music (see American Idol cd sales) but it says something. Besides the fact that Earth Wind & Fire and KC and The Sunshine Band are pretty awesome. Hey, disco may not appeal to you but it doesn't mean it was bad. It was the soundtrack to my adolescence.

Aaron Heilman went way up in my book when I first heard him enter to London Calling.
|
TheOldMole Jun 01 2006 12:50 PM |
Agree on Aaron. And a great choice by Woodward.

So the question on the table should be:
|
Yancy Street Gang Jun 01 2006 02:00 PM |
You'd have to do something with "Last" in the title or lyrics.

Michelle Simon let me feel her up after we went rollerskating to 'Last Dance'

"ellow Submarine" sounds like something the PA booth came up with for Bradford. I'm betting we'll also here "Down Under" before the year is out.

Wonder if this has something to do with his freakishly immense, larger-than-the-Death-Star, Dark Helmet-like noggin.

Frayed Knot Jul 24 2006 11:53 PM |
Pelfrey, Bradford, and Heilman all using intro songs older than them.
|
sharpie Jul 25 2006 09:39 AM |
I noticed that Heilman had different music playing on Sunday (can't remember what). His trot to first base no doubt caused by his ditching "London Calling" (the best entrance music ever).
|
Yancy Street Gang Jul 25 2006 09:59 AM |
They should play the 59th Street Bridge song for Heilman. "Slow down, you move too fast..."

Shawn Green walked to the plate to "Be Yourself" by Audioslave in the fifth inning tonight. Don't recall if that's been every time up.

And it's Mr. Green with "What Would You Say" by DMB in the eighth.

Lately Chad Bradford has been coming in to The Fray's "Over My Head (Cable Car)."

|
Gwreck Aug 25 2006 10:48 PM |
Thanks for the updates. I caught the DMB but we were only able to identify the song as Audioslave for Green.

I'm also attempting to research whether the song could be "Y Es Aqui", but I'm not getting anywhere so far with that.

Gwreck Sep 10 2006 09:26 PM |
Thanks Scarlet Knight, but that's the report I was referring to. Still no luck finding an artist, where that source got that title from, etc.

Could this be it?
It looks like it's about Puerto Rico, so that might make sense.

ScarletKnight41 Sep 28 2006 07:58 AM |
So "Over My Head (Cable Car)" was on this morning, and I quip that Chad Bradford is warming up. D-Dad, who doesn't pay much attention to this stuff, asked if that was his entrance music, and I said it was. To which D-Dad replied, "But Bradford doesn't throw over his head. He throws underhand." He went on to posit that maybe Bradford is being ironic by his choice of music.

True. He uses three songs. Brass Monkey is used for the second at-bat. I don't know what the first and third songs are, though. They start percussion-heavy but unfortunately have no lyrics in the first 10-20 seconds, so they're tougher to identify. They sound familar, but I couldn't place them. And no, I didn't have to actually write Carlos -- some other enterprising person out there in cyberland found it, thankfully. Thanks for the Castro clarification, will be duly noted. Shawn Green was using a third song in the playoffs, possibly another Audioslave song, although I'm not sure.
