Mets' Entrance Music

I've always wanted to come up with a definitive list, but it's not always easy. Knowing all the music fans here, I'm hopeful we can get something compiled.

Sure, everybody knows about Mr. Wagner...but what about the rest of your 2006 New York Mets? Contributions solicited. This works for those playing along at home via Television and Radio too, as the songs can often be heard on the broadcasts...

There will be a prize for anyone who can tell me what song Carlos Beltran uses.

Starters
Tom Glavine - Sweet Child O'Mine, Guns N Roses

Relievers
Aaron Heilman - London Calling, The Clash
Billy Wagner - Enter Sandman, Metallica

C
Paul LoDuca - Stayin' Alive, Bee Gees, Boogie Shoes, KC & The Sunshine Band, Shining Star, Earth, Wind & Fire

IF
David Wright - several, including Brass Monkey, The Beastie Boys

OF
Cliff Floyd - Everyday I'm Hustlin' - Rick Ross
Xavier Nady - X, Xzibit

Bench
Julio Franco - People Get Ready, Crystal Lewis
Chris Woodward - Sultans of Swing, Dire Straits, Money for Nothing, Dire Straits

I don't know if "flogged" is exactly the right way to describe it. Woefully incomplete perhaps. Regardless, very few of those players are even with the club anymore...perhaps only Kaz is even using the same song (??)

Sorry, I meant with respect to the whole "music & sports" coverage package. There are a lot of players missing on each team.

tom glavine often comes out to bat to a little pan flute part of a lil' jon song, from "what you gonna do". and this is a pretty hardcore gangsta song, so i guess either tom is a straight up playa, or his teammates chose it for him, or maybe that part of the song is sampled from somewhere else and i didnt realize it.

last year david wright came out to "encore" by jay-z and linkin park, but i havent heard it this year.

reyes always plays reggaeton, i am working hard on figuring out the specifics. he used to play "gasolina", but not anymore. also i am trying to make out the lyrics of beltrans song: "something aqui!, something aqui!". at first i thought it was "perros aqui" (dogs here), but i think that is wrong. it made sense when i first heard it the during the doggies-in-the-picnic-area game i went to tuesday, but i listened again and i cant make it out. i need to find a native spanish speaker to help me with all the latin music.

sure things:

julio franco always comes out to a song called "people get ready" by a christian woman called crystal lewis. "people get ready, jesus is coming".

cliff floyd has been coming out to "everyday i'm hustlin" by miami rapper rick ross.

He's from Brooklyn just like John Travolta's character in Saturday Night Fever. Maybe he struts too.

I'd be embarrassed to strut to the plate with that music playing, and it doesn't seem to fit LoDuca's hot temper, I thought he'd be more an Anthrax or Type O Negative kinda guy.

There is nothing wrong with that music.

The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack is, I believe, one of the best selling soundtrack albums of all-time.

I know that sales don't necessarily translate to good music (see American Idol cd sales) but it says something.

Besides the fact that Earth Wind & Fire and KC and The Sunshine Band are pretty awesome.

Hey, disco may not appeal to you but it doesn't mean it was bad.

It was the soundtrack to my adolescence.

So the question on the table should be:
What should Lasting's music be?

I would suggest the theme song for Home Depot (if there is one) because the kid has all the tools.

Thoughts?

How about "Last Dance" by Donna Summers?

But that is NOT what you play for your own reliever! He shouldn't be in over his head with 8 seconds left in overtime - that applies to the other team!

Thanks for the updates. I caught the DMB but we were only able to identify the song as Audioslave for Green.

Bradford's been using that song for more than a month now. Yellow Submarine was used on Wednesday, but only because it was "Beatles Night."

Any idea as to what song they used for when Bannister came to bat? It sounds very much like it's a hair-metal type band from the 80s but I can't ID it. It's one of the generic "you haven't chosen anything so we use this" songs.

]Isla Del Encanto
by Algarete

Desde que llego al puerto
Ya yo me siento bien rico
Y es la Isla del Encanto
Tu amado Puerto Rico

-Chorus-
Es la Isla del Encanto, whoa oh
Tu amado Puerto Rico, whoa oh (x2)

-Chorus- (x2)

Porque te quiero Puerto Rico

It looks like it's about Puerto Rico, so that might make sense.

So "Over My Head (Cable Car)" was on this morning, and I quip that Chad Bradford is warming up. D-Dad, who doesn't pay much attention to this stuff, asked if that was his entrance music, and I said it was. To which D-Dad replied, "But Bradford doesn't throw over his head. He throws underhand." He went on to posit that maybe Bradford is being ironic by his choice of music.

I still think it's a bad choice for a reliever. Great song, but not the message that you want to send.

True.

He uses three songs.

Brass Monkey is used for the second at-bat. I don't know what the first and third songs are, though. They start percussion-heavy but unfortunately have no lyrics in the first 10-20 seconds, so they're tougher to identify. They sound familar, but I couldn't place them.

And no, I didn't have to actually write Carlos -- some other enterprising person out there in cyberland found it, thankfully.

Thanks for the Castro clarification, will be duly noted.

Shawn Green was using a third song in the playoffs, possibly another Audioslave song, although I'm not sure.
